No. 3 Wauwatosa East at No. 2 Wisconsin Lutheran
Tonight is a chance for Tosa East to avenge an early season loss, where they didn’t shoot the ball as well as they’re capable. Freshmen guards Mikaia Litza Mikaia Litza 5'8" | CG Wauwatosa East | 2026 State WI and Emma Close are two kids capable of controlling the flow of this game, and it’s a chance for them to make a statement for their next three years. In the scenario they can get to a sectional in year one, you start thinking about how high their ceiling is at Tosa East.
No. 3 St. Croix Falls at No. 2 Prescott
The Saints have a road game in the Regional Title game against Prescott. Last season they ran threw the competition in their sectional, but there’s been plenty of improvement around, with Prescott being one of the teams who burst onto the scene this season. Lila Prescott has been one of the best players in Western Wisconsin, and a win for the Cardinals could launch them into sectionals with momentum.
No. 3 Wittenberg-Birnamwood at No. 2 Westfield
The game here may be the most significant small school game tonight. There will be excellent guard play from Reese Rogowski, Carly Drew Carly Drew 5'8" | CG Westfield | 2024 State WI , and Haddie Showen Haddie Showen 5'9" | PG Westfield | 2025 State WI . Either one of these teams could get significant contributions from their backcourts and alter the game. Any of those kids could score 30 and be the best player on the floor, and the unpredictable nature of the game makes me excited to see how it plays out. Both teams are good enough to get to sectionals. Unfortunately, only one will be going through tonight.
No. 3 Turtle Lake at No. 2 McDonell Catholic
If you like D5 basketball, join me in watching Turtle Lake and McDonell Catholic tonight. Mackenzie Tarman Mackenzie Tarman 6'0" | SF Turtle Lake | 2024 State WI has been excellent all year and jumpstarted the Turtles program, leading the team in scoring the past two seasons. The Macks of McDonell Catholic have been to state the past two seasons but have come up short in the semifinals to Assumption both times. Emily Cooper Emily Cooper 5'7" | SG Mcdonnell Central Catholic | 2024 State WI and Marley Hughes could push this team over the top. However, it won’t be easy to win this regional title. I’d pick the Macks, but don’t sleep on Tarman and the Turtles.
