High school girls basketball is better than ever. I believe there are several things that factor into this. The first thing that I notice is that the players are bigger or taller than ever. So many players on the rankings list that are close to or taller than six-foot. The second thing is that those players often have well rounded and versatile skill sets. You have a lot of taller players who play basketball year round, which results in more well rounded and versatile players. I don't know if the size has changed so much as the skills that go with it. That goes for all sizes tall or small, playing year round and developing skills through training has changed the game for the better over the last 20 to 30 years. Here are some examples of taller players on the 2024 rankings list who are also versatile and skilled.
<!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["361145"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"She has already had success at the highest level of high school basketball on the biggest stage. She led the Class 4A state tournament in scoring and rebounding last season but that is not why she is the 6th ranked player in the Class of 2024. She is 6'1 with guard skills. She can play any position on the floor and is a good athlete. She can run, shoot, handle the ball, and make guard decisions. She does all those things better than most players her size, especially when you think back 20 plus years. Her Camas team is so loaded that you might forget how good she can be. Your perfect example of how the game has evolved.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["359609"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Another one of the most versatile players at her size in the state and the 8th overall ranked player in the 2024 class. She also plays for a Class 4A state powerhouse in Woodinville. She also has all the skills to play anywhere on the floor. She can shoot threes, run the floor and score inside. When you have a 6'1 player who can catch and finish at full speed on the break with craftiness, you have one of those examples of how the girls game has changed.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["492075"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"She is a 6'0 shooting guard or stretch three. She is an elite level shooter at that size. Something you see more of now than ever. Although she might be one of the best shooters for her size in the state, even in today's game making her one of those versatile players with lots of size who is a factor from anywhere on the floor. She makes a ton of threes and she shoots them at a high percentage. Ranked 25th , she is a potential rankings riser in the future and has the stats to prove it.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["507605"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"She has excellent all around skills and it is that versatile style of play that gets her into the Class of 2024 rankings with potential to rise.. It would be hard to find a shooter who has made more threes at a higher percentage.
