HM: Tuscarora is one of the best teams in NOVA at 23-2, and Forward Alysa Carrigan Alysa Carrigan 5’11” | SF Tuscarora | 2024 State VA is a big part of that. She was named to the first team of the Dulles all-district team, and she’s been fantastic all season.
Highlights
HM: The Gainesville Cardinals are a fantastic basketball team and one of the best public schools in NOVA this year. Gainesville has an amazing freshman duo in the front-court, but Madison McKenzie Madison McKenzie 5’7″ | CG Gainesville | 2024 State VA ties them together. She’s averaging 15.2 PPG, 3.4 APG, and 3.3 SPG. I had difficulty leaving Madison as only an honorable mention, so I needed to shout her out.
Sadie Shores Sadie Shores 5’10” | CG Woodgrove HS | 2024 State VA is a calming presence for PVI and an intelligent basketball player. She is one of the best guards in NOVA and showed why all year. She makes the right pass and initiates a lot of PVIs offense. She has a solid mid-range game and can knock down open shots. People expected a lot of Shores before the season started, and she lived up to it.
Centreville was fantastic all year, and that has to be attributed to the play of Jahniya Marion Jahniya Marion 5’5″ | CG Centreville HS | 2024 State VA . The Concorde district player of the year was a beast all season. She plays with an edge, and her passion for the game was displayed all season. Jahniya is a fantastic athlete; her quickness helps her consistently get to the rim. She uses an excellent midrange game effectively when getting by her defenders.
Keira Scott Keira Scott 6’1″ | SF DME Academy | 2024 State FL came into the season as one of if not the most highly touted juniors in NOVA. Keira was fantastic when she was on the court this year and had a lot of big performances. Unfortunately, she got hurt, forcing her to miss some time. She is a matchup nightmare because of her length and skill, and in the somewhat limited time she had this year, she showed she’s one of the best wings in NOVA.
Hope Drake Hope Drake 5’11” | SF Briar Woods | 2024 State VA has been phenomenal all year and the most significant reason Briar Woods has been so good. She is a fantastic shooter and a skilled scorer. She’s averaging 17.7 PPG and 6.9 RPG. Hope finished as the player of the year in the Potomac district and made the first team.

Laura Williams Laura Williams 6’2″ | PF Paul VI | 2024 State VA is the highest-ranked Junior in Virginia and had a great year. She was tremendous on defense and stepped up when her name was called. The thing I love about Laura Williams Laura Williams 6’2″ | PF Paul VI | 2024 State VA ‘s game is how hard she plays. Her post-game and touch around the rim improved significantly this year, and she will be one of the most sought-after recruits in Virginia this AAU season.
