Throughout the showcase, several players stood out, here are some Standouts from Queen of the Court 2023.
Despite her height, Aiyanna “Yaya” Gibson is a fierce competitor on the basketball court. She brings intensity and a winning attitude to every drill, and every game. Her defensive skills are particularly impressive, as her quick hands and feet allow her to pressure the ball and navigate through screens with ease. On offense, her speed and agility make her an explosive scorer who can leave defenders in the dust. Additionally, her consistent shooting makes her an all-around threat. Overall, Yaya’s athleticism and tenacity make her a valuable asset to any team. She left the event on top, winning the MVP of the whole camp, definitely a player that will remain on my radar.
Highlights
Gia is a skilled point guard with excellent ball-handling abilities and a keen court vision. She knows how to use her dribbling skills to attack the defense and has the ability to freeze defenders with her moves. She is also a smart player with a good basketball IQ and takes care of the ball well. Gia’s athleticism allows her to explode off the dribble and finish at the rim with finesse. She is a well-rounded player with a reliable shooting form and displays maturity in her overall game. Gia left camp with Top 5 Players honors, and definitely a player I will look forward to watching her on the court in the coming years.
Jhazman is a dynamic point guard who takes control of the court and sets the tone for her team. Her ability to attack the rim is impressive, as she consistently scores at a high level. She also has a sneaky shot-making ability, which catches defenders off-guard and allows her to make them pay from beyond the arc. Jhazmyn’s skill at creating space for her shot is evident in her ability to attack and change direction with the ball. Overall, Jhazmyn’s ability to control the game and score in a variety of ways make her a valuable asset to any team. Jhazman also left camp as the 1v1 Champion and I look froward to seeing more of her this spring/summer.
Highlights
Aaliyah is a skilled guard with a fierce competitive spirit. She has a strong desire to win and will not let anyone stand in her way. Her ability to explode to the basket off the dribble is impressive, and she finishes well at the rim with creative footwork. Aaliyah is also a reliable shooter and is not shy about letting her opponents know when she hits a shot. Overall, Aaliyah is a passionate player who plays with a lot of heart and intensity, making her a valuable asset to any team. Aaliyah left camp with Top 5 Player honors, and I will be keeping my eye on her.
Lucchese is a tenacious and confident player who thrives on a challenge. She possesses a solid understanding of the game and takes excellent care of the ball while handling pressure. During one-on-one competitions, she attacks the basket with intent and exhibits an impressive shooting ability during shooting drills. Lucchese’s triple-threat game is a force to be reckoned with, as she uses her jab step to misdirect the defense and make quick reads and plays. Overall, Lucchese’s combination of skill and competitiveness make her a valuable asset to any team.
