SCISA 3A Championship: Hilton Head Christian vs. Shannon Forest

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The last four seasons have season Hilton Head Christian be the top team in SCISA's 2A classification. Prior to this season, the Eagles became a team that was reclassified as a 3A school.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shannon Forest was another former SCISA 2A team that was reclassified into the 3A ranks. It did wonders for the Crusaders' girls hoops program as they have won 20 games this season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Would Shannon Forest make it 21 or would the Eagles continue their dominance en route to a fifth consecutive championship? The answer was the latter as the Eagles claimed this season's 3A SCISA state crown by virtue of a 67-38 win over the Crusaders.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hilton Head Christian's season finishes with a 27-2 record while that of Shannon Forest concludes at 21-4.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>How Things Progressed</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shannon Forest won the opening tip – it seemingly was the only thing the Crusaders won the in the opening stanza. Hilton Head Christian looked like vintage Hilton Head Christian as they opened the game scoring the first eight points – and 20 of the first 26. It was 20-6 in the Eagles favor with one complete.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Crusaders battled back in the second quarter as they managed to trim its deficit down to single digits. It looked less like a rout and more like a contest following the first two stanzas as the Eagles went into halftime leading 32-18.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It began to resemble more of a blowout at the beginning of the third quarter as Hilton Head Christian began the third quarter with an 8-0, putting its “Strive for Five” aspirations in much clearer view. It was 53-27 in favor of the Eagles with one quarter remaining.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One quarter – eight minutes was all that stood in between Hilton Head Christian and another season where they left Sumter with more championship hardware. As the game inched closer and closer to its conclusion, there was little doubt about the result. She finished with 27 points which led all scorers. That was <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='197060' first='Devon' last='Yarde']</strong> who concluded her evening with 14 points. The senior had a noteworthy outing as she tallied 12 points.
