Division 1, Sectional 3
With injuries affecting Sectionals One and Two, Sectional Three looks to be the most challenging in Division 1. Brookfield East, Arrowhead, and Verona are three teams with legitimate aspirations of lifting a gold ball next month, and one of those teams won’t even reach a sectional final this season. Of all of the sectionals in D1, the No. 1 seed in this one will be the most crucial because it won’t be easy to beat two of those three teams in a weekend.
Division 2, Sectional 3, Sub-Sectional 1
In this subsection, six of the nine best teams in this sectional will play for a spot in the sectional final. According to raw RPI, these six teams are in the top-36 teams in D2 and aren’t playing to go to state. They are playing for a chance to be a step away from the Resch Center. I would argue Monona Grove and McFarland have the most championship equity. However, Reedsburg, DeForest, Sauk Prairie, and Stoughton aren’t bad teams in their own right and could compete with these teams if things go their way in a single elimination tournament.
Division 3, Sectional 3, Sub-Sectional 1
The team who comes out of this sub-sectional will likely match up with one of Lake Cecelia Mills Cecelia Mills 5'4" | SG Florence Wisconsin | 2027 WI or defending D3 champion Waupun. Like in the last sub-section, six of the best teams in this sectional will play in this subsection, and the reward for them getting out of it will either be seeing a defending state champion with uber-talented pieces or a team who beat the defending state champions for a second time this season. Watch for Prairie du Chien, Edgerton, Platteville, Columbus, Brodhead, and Edgewood.
Division 4, Sectional 4, Sub-Sectional 1
10 of the top 11 teams of this sub-section are playing for the right to play in a sectional final. Among the teams in this sub-section are the reigning D4 runner-ups, Laconia, and last season’s D5 champions, Randolph. To say that this sectional will be challenging is the understatement of the century. Other teams include Howards Grove, Sheboygan Lutheran, Winnebago Lutheran, Pardeeville, New Holstein, St. Mary’s Springs, Manitowoc Lutheran, and Valders. With the teams in this subsection, anything is possible.
