Hope Drake Hope Drake 5’11” | SF Briar Woods | 2024 State VA led Briar Woods to a 2-0 week with two hard-fought wins over Stone Bridge and Riverside. In a big game on the road against Stone Bridge, Hope hit 3 clutch threes down the stretch to seal the game for Briar Woods. Hope’s three-point shooting and rebounding were displayed this week, and she earned a shoutout for her performances.
Highlights
Gates Fox
Gates Fox
Steward guard Gates Fox had an excellent game vs. Walsingham Academy. She finished with 25 points and 6 assists and knocked down 3 threes in an absolute thrashing of Walsingham. She found her teammates well and showed an all-around ability to score.
Every week you could list Kymora Johnson Kymora Johnson 5’8″ | CG St. Anne’s Belfield | 2023 State VA as a top performer; she is the best player on arguably the best team in the state and is most likely the best player this year. She had a masterful game against Saint Gertrude, putting in 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists on an efficient 53% from the field. She also led her team to a massive win over a great Catholic Crusaders team.
Maddie Rice
Maddie Rice
I needed to mention another St. Anne’s-Belfield hooper on this list with Senior forward Maddie Rice. Rice finished with 20 points and did almost all her damage in the paint against Saint Gertrude. Maddie Rice is a player that doesn’t get the credit she deserves, and she’s put up a lot of impressive stat lines this year. She averages 12.3 PPG and 8.2 RPG and has been a critical member of this excellent STAB team all year.
Takeria Ramey is one of the most complete guards in the state, and she showed that this week. Against Patrick Henry, Ramey had 17 points, 8 assists, and 6 steals. She also played a big part in the Massaponax dismantling of colonial forge. Ramey is a fantastic shooter; when she decides to go downhill, she always finds teammates. She’s a pest defensively and a high-IQ basketball player.
