New London
Usually, when you get a No. 1 seed in your subsection, you’re the favorite to come out of your section and play for a sectional final. However, even I picked against them in their subsection. However, they could be a team that makes a run to the Resch Center. I think Lizzie Steingraber Lizzie Steingraber 5'10" | SF New London | 2023 State WI is one of the better passers in the state and can easily score 20 points per night if she wants. Don’t be surprised to see the future Tommie excel this postseason.
New Glarus
The Glarner Knights are arguably the most consistent teams in D4, thanks to junior wing Lindsey Schadewalt Lindsey Schadewalt 5'10" | SG New Glarus | 2024 State WI . She’s been one of the most consistent forms of offense in Wisconsin, but like New London, I didn’t even pick them in their own sectional. If they were to match up with Aquinas, the Glarner Knights would prove themselves as one of the best teams in D4 heading to the Resch Center. Remember New Glarus in a few weeks.
Northwestern
I wanted to look at a lower seed with the potential to make a run, and I’ll give you the Northwestern Tigers. From Maple, Wisconsin, the Tigers boast one of the most lethal shooting point guards in Wisconsin, Tieyrn Plasch. That kid can get going in a hurry. They’ve beaten the No. 2 seed in their subsection in Prescott, and if they were to get to that matchup, the Tigers would have plenty of confidence to beat the Cardinals and reach a sectional-final game, where Plasch could take over and send her team to the Resch Center.
Milwaukee Academy of Science
For whatever reason, it seems few people go out to see the Novas of MAS. Those people are missing out on one of the most talented backcourts in Wisconsin. Lalani Ellis Lalani Ellis 5'7" | PG Milwaukee Academy of Science | 2023 State WI , Beautiful Waheed Beautiful Waheed 5'9" | CG Milwaukee Academy of Science | 2023 State WI , and Jaeda Turner Jaeda Turner 5'5" | PG Milwaukee Academy Of Science | 2025 WI can make things happen off the dribble. Not many teams have the defensive personnel to handle that many dynamic players on the court. They ended up as a 3-seed, which is unlucky, but it is what it is, and they will make one or two teams in their subsections’ life difficult over the next few weeks.
