Let’s take a look at some of the athletes who have surpassed the 1000 point milestone in their high school careers and are still available for colleges who need dominant scorers.
Briahna Scott
Briahna Scott
Briahna Scott doesn’t shy away from contact battling through it on a drive or from the block to get her points. Her ability to attack lanes is difficult to defend, and she can knock down shots from deep, too. She has some nice handles with the ball even being able to push it up the court quickly to get a fast break going for her team. Her length comes in handy on defense knocking the ball away and blocking shots.
Khalia King
Khalia King
Khalia King has been dominant around the perimeter knocking down shots from deep in her high school career. She does a nice job reading the floor finding the opening and taking advantage of her opportunity. She helps facilitate plays knowing how to get the ball into her teammates. She’s a nuisance on defense making sure no guard can get by her, and she stays aware on the court when it’s time to make a break up the court hustling on a fast break.
Lindsay Suitt
Lindsay Suitt
Lindsay Suitt does a nice job finding a person to box out in order to make sure she is the one getting the rebound. She’s versatile on defense being able to drop to the block and handle post players, or she can step out to the perimeter to guard a good ball handler. On offense, she sees the floor well finding the gaps to drive to, and she can pull up with ease making some midrange jumpers. She does a nice job using her handles to draw defenders and open up the court elsewhere.
Khauri Little Khauri Little 5’8″ | PG Hillside | 2023 NC uses fakes moving at high speed that could even throw off the cameras trying to film what she’s doing. She attacks the basket finishing at the rim on both sides showing off her handles and ability to score. She’s an aggressive defender, too, stripping the ball away from players trying to get to the hoop and score. She crashes the boards grabbing rebounds, and she pushes these right up the court for fast break points easily.
Victoria Sagne Victoria Sagne 5’11” | CG Apex Friendship | 2023 NC has some great height, and this allows her to shoot all over the court making shots over her defenders with ease. She can knock them down from deep off the pass or create some space herself with a few dribbles. She is an asset grabbing rebounds on both ends of the court, and her awareness of where she is allows her to put offensive rebounds right back up for some points even if she has to throw in some moves and reverse layups to score. She’s quick on defense, too, jumping into passing lanes to grab some steals.
Jadyn Newsome Jadyn Newsome 5’10” | SF Northern Guilford | 2023 NC has certainly been able to reach the 1000 point milestone due to her versatility. She can handle herself on the block posting up or sliding into the opening being ready for the pass and bucket. She expands the court knocking down shots from deep as well. She uses her basketball IQ on both ends of the court getting her hands involved on defense inhibiting from her opponents from getting a play going whether she jumps into passing lanes for a steal, grabs the rebound, or blocks a shot.
Rhian Lawrence Rhian Lawrence 5’7″ | PG Cardinal Gibbons | 2023 State NC ‘s ball handling is one of her biggest assets on the court. Her ability to change speeds losing defenders is fun to watch. She can definitely shoot off the pass, but she is excellent at creating her own space with changing her speed and direction on a dime to get lost and create some points for her team. She can shoot from anywhere on the court including handling her own on the block showing some strength against post players. She uses her excellent court vision to find open teammates for their points.
Zahra Douglas Zahra Douglas 5’9″ | SF Marvin Ridge | 2023 State NC is a player who does a little bit of everything. She gets inside using her strength to move people out of the way and show off post moves to score her points. She can definitely knock down shots from deep, too. Her ability to score on all levels has made her now the highest scoring athlete in Marvin Ridge’s history. Scoring isn’t the only thing she can do, though, as she is a nuisance on defense knocking the ball away from her opponents, and she pushes these up the court for fast breaks.
