J. E. Dawson | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Zahra scored her 1,000th career point last month on the way to becoming Marvin Ridge High School’s All-Time leading scorer. Zahra possesses deceptive speed as she can be seen beating small guards down the floor in transition. She has above average ball handling skills which she put on display today. She has a nice soft touch around the rim and she can finish through contact. She has scoring capabilities at all 3 levels. Zahra plays very tough and can certainly be a huge addition to a team on the next level.

Zahra Douglas had a record breaking year as a Marvin Ridge Maverick, and it’s no surprise how she did it once you see her play. She can get inside for rebounds with ease, and she sees the floor well making her move or finding her open teammate. Her ability to shoot from anywhere and go against all five positions were critical for her team’s success this season. On defense, she has no problem guarding around the perimeter or getting inside protecting the paint.

is a player who does a little bit of everything. She gets inside using her strength to move people out of the way and show off post moves to score her points. She can definitely knock down shots from deep, too. Her ability to score on all levels has made her now the highest scoring athlete in Marvin Ridge’s history. Scoring isn’t the only thing she can do, though, as she is a nuisance on defense knocking the ball away from her opponents, and she pushes these up the court for fast breaks.

Zahra Douglas started the game with a steal and bucket stripping the ball away from her opponents and finishing at the rim. It was a common theme throughout the game that she was getting her hands involved on defense deflecting passes and grabbing steals. She gets in the right position for the rebound, too. On offense, she has some nice moves on the block using power dribbles and up and under moves to score her points no matter what kind of contact she has to go through. She even stepped outside to drain a three pointer right after her opponents thought they were going on a run.
