For the current junior class, this will be their final AAU run, and there are a few names primed for a standout summer that will catch coaches’ eyes over the AAU season, so let’s talk about them.
MiKayla Werner MiKayla Werner 6'0" | PF Hortonville | 2024 State WI
As far as glue kids go, Werner is by far my favorite kid to watch. She fits any style a coach wants to play. Werner can defend on the perimeter, post, and screen and roll. Offensively, she can score in the post, shoot from the outside, and attack the rim. I have no doubts that a coach will fall in love with her game, and she’ll help a team win at the next level.
McKenna Johnson McKenna Johnson 5'9" | SG Wilmot | 2024 State WI
Playing with elite-level talent is only going to help Johnson again this summer. Her ability to score on the offensive end will be on full display, especially having the other team’s third-best wing defender on her. Johnson will have a few games in the EYBL, where she’ll alter the course of games. She’s also a kid who can get going in a hurry.
Paige Seckar Paige Seckar 6'0" | SF Oshkosh West | 2024 State WI
Last summer, Seckar’s name got around the last live period quite a bit, and that momentum continued through the high school season, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Seckar is one of the most versatile defenders in the state and even led the FVA in blocked shots as a sophomore. She’s as versatile as anyone and finds ways to make winning plays on both ends of the floor. She’ll do that this summer with Purple Aces again.
Lila Posthuma Lila Posthuma 6'1" | SF Prescott | 2024 State WI
Some kids make the game look easy, and Posthuma is one of those players. Something about her vision at her size and skill level doesn’t make sense. Posthuma can play as a point forward, wing, and help-side rim protector and score 20 points in the same game. Posthuma understands the game at a higher level, in real-time, than most athletes her age.
Lindsey Schadewalt Lindsey Schadewalt 5'10" | SG New Glarus | 2024 State WI
Quietly, Schadewalt had a dominant season, but since it was in D4, most don’t understand how good she was as a junior. In any competitive game this season, Schadewalt seemed like she had efficient 25-plus points, made everything shot threw at the rim, and led her team back to sectionals this season. In the only game that wasn’t the case, the Glarner Knights narrowly lost to Cuba City. Her shooting will be utilized to the fullest with Wisconsin Impact.
