In this part three of three articles I look at the final six players to be added. Part one shared the top seven added, part two the second seven. Players are listed in rank order.
Delilah Barnes Delilah Barnes 5'4" | CG Lawrence | 2024 State KS , 5’4″, CG, Lawrence – Barnes has had to show a great deal of patience in a program that was loaded with fast, strong, physical, quick guards who could score. With a few of that group graduating I fully expect Barnes to fill an essential part of that full court pressure rotation. Barnes, joining the ranks at #152, had been inadvertently been included in the 2023 class prior to her debut in the 2024s. She plays hard on both ends of the floor, has good speed and quickness, and handles well in traffic.
Heidi Fisher Heidi Fisher 5'3" | PG St. John | 2024 State KS , 5’6″, PG, St. John – Fisher joins the ranks at #157. Smart with the ball, she is fast; quick; and anticipates passes well. She is good at picking ball handler pockets and pushing to ball back down the floor in the transition game. Also a three point threat, Fisher has the foundation to climb the ranks over the summer. I would like to see her develop into a strong free throw shooter and keep strengthening her 1-on-1 handles.
Lauren Brown Lauren Brown PG Valley Falls | 2024 State KS , PG, Valley Falls – Joining the ranks at #158, Brown entered the season as one of top returning assist efficiency leaders with a solid ratio of 1.71. This past season Brown averaged 6.5 points, 1.5 assists, and a steal per game. And while her assists-to-turnovers ratio dropped to .6, Brown is one of the key players to the Dragons future success.
Zoey Sims Zoey Sims 5'9" | PF Fredonia | 2024 State KS , 5’9″, PF, Fredonia – Debuting at #163, what Sims brings to the table is a solid buikld, good length, and rebounding, and perimeter shooting. After averaging 13.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals in 2022 she followed it up with a 2023 averaging similar numbers. A solid 66% free throw shooter she made 29 three point shots at a 32% clip.
Keylee Faudere Keylee Faudere 5'9" | PF El Dorado | 2024 State KS , 5’9″, PF, El Dorado – I saw Faudere for the first time this past December. Unless you paid attention to just her it was easy to miss the little things she did well. Entering the ranks at #165, she moved well into open spaces, used her length and anticipation ability to tip away passes, and did several things well offensively. She used the glass and made solid power moves around the block. Faudere also hit the three ball. With her solid physical foundation and good strength I expect to see good things from her in the future. .
Avery Linden Avery Linden 5'4" | SG Sterling | 2024 State KS , 5’4″, SG, Sterling – Linden, who joins the ranks at #167, earned Heart of America second team honors following the season. One of the few returners from the 2021 and 2022 2A state championship teams, she stood out as a floor leader all season. Linden showed great hustle, handles under full court pressure, and transition speed in her role as one of the primary ball handlers.
