Peyton Guay, 5’7 G – West Rutland School Class of 2025
Guay averaged near 30 ppg. all season, but this wasn’t just another game. Blue Mtn. was all over Guay, and their length + focus on Peyton stifled her scoring. However, she was incredibly effective, nonetheless. Peyton navigated ball pressure with her secure handle, and when the defense doubled or collapsed on her, she made plays for teammates to get them open looks and FT’s. Plus, her defense was agile and heady, even as she struggled with foul trouble. It wasn’t the prettiest game for Peyton, but it was the biggest win of the year, and her leadership was critical.
Arianna Coombs, 5’10 F – West Rutland School Class of 2023
The senior forward was dominant inside. Arianna led Westside with 13 points on the night, with the bulk of that coming in the fourth. Coombs battled inside for finishes, offensive boards and second chance points. Plus, she stepped out to three and showed she can knock it down from range. Additionally, she held down the paint. Arianna defended the post against Blue Mtn.’s relentless drives and boxed out + cleared the glass. Big game from the senior who must’ve had a double-double.
Aubrey Beaulieu, 5’4 G – West Rutland School Class of 2025
Aubrey came up big in the clutch, making multiple plays in crunch time. She’s one of the lead guards in West Rutland’s press, and her anticipation + ball pressure got to Blue Mtn. as she forced errant passes and TO’s. Then, when the rock came her way, she hit a big three in the final minutes of the game to provide WRS some separation. Aubrey finished with 13 points, a number of steals, and showed poise as a sophomore in crunch time.
Jordan Alley, 5’9 G/F – Blue Mountain Union School Class of 2024
Blue Mtn. may have not come away with the trophy, but Alley was my player of the game. Jordan’s all-around game was evident from the start. She jumped for tip, brought the ball up the floor the bulk of the game, and facilitated the offense with crisp passing and orchestrated ball movement. Alley found her offense around the cup with snaking drives to both sides + post work against WRS bigs. Moreover, she hauled in boards, broke ball pressure, and forced TO’s plus deflections as she headed the full court pressure. The point-forward from Blue Mountain was everywhere, finishing with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Impressive game from Alley.
Felicity Sulham, 5’10 F – Blue Mountain Union School Class of 2024
My goodness, Felicity got it going in the second half! Sulham was a monster on the offensive glass, tracking missed shots and battling for second chance points. Additionally, she showed a few moves off the dribble, getting to the rim from the short corner and finishing at the cup, going on a seven-point run herself at one point. Moreover, her defense was strong. Sulham worked the interior well, hustling for rebounds and clogging the paint. With 13 points and 12 boards, it was a nice two-way effort from Sulham in this one.
Lauren Joy, 5’2 G – Blue Mountain Union School Class of 2023
Blue Mountain’s senior leader wasn’t going down without a fight. Lauren went full tilt the entire game. Joy hounded ballhandlers in the pressure defense with solid footwork, and even got after some boards amidst all the size on the floor. Moreover, she knocked down a number of big shots, including a three in the final four minutes of the game as the Bucks inched toward claiming the lead once again. Blue Mtn. didn’t get over the hump, but Lauren’s 10 points and high energy game had them right there until the end.
Kyra Nelson, 5’8 G – Blue Mountain Union School Class of 2025
Steady through the whole game, Kyra put together a quiet 11-point effort for the Blue Mtn. Bucks. Nelson found her scoring both at the rim and from range, knocking down a big three in the 4th quarter as Blue Mtn. sought to retake the lead. Furthermore, Kyra made nice defensive reads in the press and battled on the perimeter with WRS’ sophomore guards. Kyra put together a nice game.
