One of those club events took place in the Pee Dee as a number of teams from both Carolinas converged on the Pearl Moore Basketball Center for the Carolina Girls Hoops Report-hosted CGHR March Madness event.
We at Prep Girls Hoops also made the trip to Florence for Saturday’s games. Typically, seniors conclude their high school careers with their respective teams, but a few are giving it one more cycle through the travel realm before transitioning to college. Some of those were on hand in Florence and they arrived ready to show out.
Typically, players call it a travel career following their senior seasons in high school. Lowe is an exception as she is running on the club circuit one final team before advancing into the college ranks. As the star from Marlboro County displayed on Sunday, she is certainly primed to take her game to the collegiate level. She finished with 18 points as Carolina Hoopers 2024 completed an emphatic victory over Team USC Unleashed 2024. Lowe is a gifted ball handler and rim attacker who can deliver strong finishes at the basket. She is particularly a force to be reckoned with in the transition game.
Here is a name that will ring plenty of bells to many a South Carolina high school girls basketball fan given she played during the regular season for South Florence – one of the teams to beat in the 4A ranks. Lyde displayed exactly why that is on Sunday afternoon as she put together a 13-point effort as her Carolina Hoopers 2024 team put together a dominant performance over Team USC Unleashed 2024. She is more than willing to absorb contact and get to the free throw line. Lyde also showcased how effective she can be from behind the arc as she made a couple of 3-pointers in that game – one of which was a buzzer-beating three to close the game.
It was somewhat fitting that Confidence Cougars 2024’s emphatic win to dispatch of Carolina Rattlers 2025 was keyed by a pair of 2023s. One of those 2023s was Rearden who finished with 12-point in what was a 45-22 victory. Rearden has displayed that she is a potent scorer and rebounder ever since she began at the varsity level as an eighth grader. She has also showcased her ability to make smart passes and play the game by combining intelligence with skill. Those are traits that are sure to serve Rearden well as she transitions out of high school ball into the collegiate level.
In Confidence Cougars 2024’s lopsided 45-22 victory over Carolina Rattlers 2025, it was a win that was spearheaded in large part by its senior Socastee connection. Massey led her team’s efforts with an 18-point outing. A good bit of those 18 points were compiled from 3-point range as Massey drained four triples. In addition to the points she scored, she also did not have a foul called against her for the game. Massey can log productive minutes either as a two in the backcourt or in the frontcourt as a three and adds proficient rebounding and defensive abilities to what she can get done as a scorer.

The lion’s share of teams that were on hand at Pearl Moore Basketball Center were of the younger set, but veterans still had a noteworthy presence. One of those was the senior from West Cabarrus who led all-point getters for Reign Academy 2024 with 15 against Carolina Hoopers 2024. While a 3-point shot is part of Hicks’ overall offensive repertoire, one can particularly count on Hicks to find her way to the free throw line as she does not shy away from contact. Before transferring to the Wolverines and coach Tolonda Simmons, Hicks wore the black and Vegas gold of Concord.

Three seniors are part of the roster for Reign Academy 2024. One of those 2023s happens to represent the school located to the north of Exit 58 off of Interstate 85. Estela finished her late afternoon with nine points as her team threw everything it could and then some at Carolina Hoopers 2024 in what was one of the more entertaining matchups of the entire weekend. Estela is a dual-sport athlete whose athletic schedule also includes playing on the soccer pitch at 4A A.L. Brown. Along with what she does as a scorer, Estela is a timely rebounder who can also create additional possessions with her defense. Blocking shots and connecting on 3-pointers are two other areas of her game she can excel at.
