Here is a name that will ring plenty of bells to many a South Carolina high school girls basketball fan given she played during the regular season for South Florence – one of the teams to beat in the 4A ranks. Lyde displayed exactly why that is on Sunday afternoon as she put together a 13-point effort as her Carolina Hoopers 2024 team put together a dominant performance over Team USC Unleashed 2024. She is more than willing to absorb contact and get to the free throw line. Lyde also showcased how effective she can be from behind the arc as she made a couple of 3-pointers in that game – one of which was a buzzer-beating three to close the game.

Lyde is the ultimate stat sheet stuffer for the Lady Bruins. Jazmyne helps your team win games at times with her willingness to make an extra pass, grab an extra rebound, take a charge or dive on the floor for a loose 50/50 ball.

Lyde runs track in the spring for the Lady Bruins who finished the season with a (24-3) record. The Lady Bruins had setbacks to Winston-Salem Christian, Hartsville HS and Ridge View HS this season. Jazmyne averaged 11.9 ppg, 8.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.2 steals this season.

Lyde hoops for one of the state’s signature 4A programs in South Florence and the Bruins are looking like that once again. She has led her team to an undefeated 6-0 start as of this writing. Lyde has participated in multiple athletic disciplines throughout her career as she also has participated in volleyball and track and field events in addition to what she does on the basketball court. In the six games that the Bruins have played in this season, she has averaged a double-double with 13.2 points and 10.7 rebounds along with 2.7 steals. Lyde brings an abundance of skill along with versatility as she can play minutes as either a small forward or as a one or two in the backcourt.

Jazmyne brings toughness and grit to the floor for the Lady Bruins. She does a great job of showing versatility all over the floor and on both ends of the court. Jazmyne prefers to attack the rack and get the ball downhill at times. Lyde never shows hesitation at all to jump on the floor for a loose ball or sacrifice her body when it comes to taking a charge.

Lyde is the Prep Girls Hoops Preseason Region Player of the Year this season.
