Rather the weekend ended with a ring or not, the experience to play in front of big crowds in an arena is a great experience. Below are the players in the 1A class who stood out amongst the rest.
Rhodes had quite the couple of games over the weekend. In her first matchup she finished with 10pts and 3 rebs and a win. She played all 32 minutes and showed flashes of the aggressive guard that she is. She gets to rim at will, and has no type of fear. Title game, she was more impactful in my opinion even with 3 points. Her nature to be aggressive got her a stat line of 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 points. Her first half wasn’t her best half, but the second half is what mattered, and even though shots weren’t falling, her energy and willingness to do everything earned her ring to close out her high school career.
Emma Devocelle

Devocelle’s ability to heat up is quick, and deadly. Over the weekend she averaged 12.5ppg on 50% shooting. Though the games didn’t go the way she envisioned, Redbird arena got to see flashes of a very talented guard of Champaign, IL. Her confidence matched with her efficiency was hard to ignore. She showed teams her ability to knock down the long ball, while still maintaining her need to take smart shots.
A legit scoring machine, who leaves it all on the court every time she is playing. Coming into the state tourney, Heffel eclipsed 1000 points as a junior, and you saw it this weekend. The aggression to take shots, even when the rim isn’t agreeing, is all confidence. She has that. Putting up 10pts in each game, the feeling of giving up on herself wasn’t there at all. In the third place game, she was a monster on the boards and it was a key factor to secure the win. She will definitely make noise this circuit season.
Highlights
Quarnstrom is a work horse. She simply does her job. Her energy and effort were seen in both games over the weekend. She stuffs the stat sheet with over extensive skillset and the averages over the weekend prove it. 11ppg, 4.5 rebs, 5 asts, & 2.5 steals. She is a plug and play type of player, and with another AAU season coming up, she will foresure be turning more heads.
Raelyn Obermeier
Raelyn Obermeier
A hidden talent on the court, but when she gets the ball.. you should probably count it. Her efficiency over this weekend was insane. 50% from the field.. in both games. She picks and chooses when she wants to take a shot, but she is so smart with her decisions. Sometimes it seemed her team believed in her more than she believed herself, but those are the type of players you want to be around. Her “hesitation” to not make bad decisions was key to her winning her ring in her 3rd year.
