La Follette lost four of their five starters from last season, only leaving Alayna West Alayna West 5'8" | SG Madison La Follette | 2024 State WI , and she exploded this season. She took over most of the games she played and was one of the state leaders in scoring and rebounding during the regular season. West is one of the most athletic wings in the state and makes some out-of-this-world plays on both ends of the floor. With all the defensive attention imaginable all season, she still found ways to help her team win games.
Sydney Cherney Sydney Cherney 5'6" | CG Reedsburg | 2024 State WI
Cherney was the lone returner for Reedsburg, who saw significant minutes on their Sectional Championship team in 2021-22. I don’t know if there was anything more Cherney could’ve done to help her team compete this season, and it nearly resulted in another Badger-West Conference title. The Beavers went on a tear after the first few games of the season, and Cherney led the state in scoring as a junior.
There aren’t many bigger fans of Shae Kelley Shae Kelley 5'9" | PG Brookfield East | 2024 State WI ‘s game than myself, and there were moments this year when you could see significant improvements in her all-around game. She’s been elite on the defensive end and is intelligent on both ends of the floor, but her offense was much better this season. She shot over 37% from the 3-point line this season, an over nine percent improvement from her junior year. She’s an elite prospect if those numbers stand the test of time through AAU. If it is the norm for Kelley, she can shoot the ball at a high level on solid volume, orchestrate an offense, defend some of the best players in the midwest well, and has unreal Basketball IQ. Not much more you can ask for in a point guard.
Sydney Whitehouse Sydney Whitehouse 5'9" | SF Green Bay Notre Dame | 2024 State WI
It’s well known that Sydney Whitehouse Sydney Whitehouse 5'9" | SF Green Bay Notre Dame | 2024 State WI is one of the best wing defenders the state of Wisconsin has to offer. This season, especially in the game Fayta was out, she showed ability on the offensive end that surprised me. Whitehouse can shoot the ball better than she did as a sophomore, muscle through traffic, and pass the ball better than you’d think. She’ll be one to watch this summer.
