Gia was phenomenal in her 4 state games. She opened the tournament in the Dome with 31 points, and then dropped 32 more in their loser out contest vs Lincoln two days later. She also had 29 points in a regional loss to eventual champion Garfield. Her four game average, including the regional round was 25 points per game. She made 6-16 threes vs Lincoln and 5-12 in the opening round of 12 win over Bonney Lake. Needless to say, she can shoot it. She made 2nd team all tournament despite not playing in the trophy round.
She opened the round of 12 with 19 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, The assists didn’t surprise me as she has excellent floor vision. She finished the tournament averaging 13, 6 rebounds and 3 assists a game. She plays with a high basketball IQ and has the talent to be a scoring threat from all levels. She has decent length and plays with a lot of energy, making good things happen. She also racked up a bunch of steals on the defensive end.
Averaged 11 points a game in her three games in Yakima. She is a shooter, and capable of hitting threes in bunches. She struggled a bit shooting it in the trophy round, but made 5 of 9 from three in the first two games for Prosser. She has been a solid scoring option for Prosser all season and a good bit of it comes from her three point prowess.
There were games when WF West struggled on the offensive end. Not so much for her, she was consistent all season long for the Bearcats. She had games 24 points, 13 rebounds, 19 points, 19 rebounds, and 16 points, 8 rebounds. She is effective as a back to the basket post who uses the glass well and doesn’t waste a lot of time getting into her shots on the block. She has tremendous length at 6’4 and two years left to continue to dominate at the 2A level.
Jayda filled up the stat sheet in the state tournament doing a little bit of everything. She is a talented scorer and averaged just over 10 points in 3 games. She had a tournament high of 15 in the opening round win. She also had 7 steals in that one. In the next two she had 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 points, 10 rebounds with three assists in both. That helped Garfield to a state title and she was named 2nd team all tournament. She is skilled on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Only a Sophomore, she is a prospect to watch.
