PARKERSBURG - After dropping the first game of the season, North Marion ripped of a crazy winning streak on the way to the Class AAA title.

Head coach Mike Parrish and company won the next 24 games in a row, set up a date in the championship game with Philip Barbour, and then polished off win No. 25 with a hot-shooting performance against the Colts.

[player_tooltip player_id='153426' first='Olivia' last='Toland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='384128' first='Emma' last='Freels'] tied for a game-high 18 points, the Huskies shot 57% from the field, and they captured the fifth state championship of the Parrish Era with an 88-60 win over the Colts. Toland's points shouldn't have come as a shock.

All year long, Toland played a huge part on the run to Charleston, and for her efforts she has been named captain of the Prepgirlshoopswv.com Class AAA All-State Team:

(Captain) [player_tooltip player_id='153426' first='Olivia' last='Toland'], North Marion, SG, 5-10, Sr. - [player_tooltip player_id='153426' first='Olivia' last='Toland'] came up big. Huge, even. Why if she had come up any bigger, the Big 10 POY award wouldn't have been the only hardware she took home after the school year. Yes, she looked wonderful for the Huskies. After the graduation of Katlyn Carson, she assumed the mantel of leader and wore it pretty darn well. On the way to the Class AAA title, she scored 24.1 points per game, on 44% shooting, along with 4.5 assists and six boards per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='375427' first='Sophie' last='Nichols'], G, 5-11, Jr. - [player_tooltip player_id='375427' first='Sophie' last='Nichols'] willed her team to the brink of the state final just two games after the Vikings finished the toughest regular-season schedule in AAA. It's true. Full stop. She led. She spilled over tables. She nailed some big shots, with four fouls. She helped get her group to within minutes of the last game of the season. Oh, and she did it all with a smile on her face. Almost as if, this is what she set out to do at the beginning of the season, which of course that was the goal. On the year, she provided so much for the Vikings to the tunes of 17.1 points on 45% shooting, 4.7 boards, 2.1 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game, while shooting 40% from deep.

[player_tooltip player_id='384095' first='Kynna' last='Britton'], Sissonville, G, 5-10, So. - If [player_tooltip player_id='153426' first='Olivia' last='Toland'] came up big for her team, [player_tooltip player_id='384095' first='Kynna' last='Britton'] came up bigger. Plain and simple. Her reputation has been transformed. She's gone from being the kid you could easily double team, to being the kid who capable of fighting through double teams or just trusting her teammates to be there for her. And when they came in the latter part of the year, she was ready. Whatever game you saw her, she openly showed more comfort with the ball in her hands and more faith in her teammates on the way to a state semifinal berth. On the year, she tallied 19.7 points on 43% shooting, with 6.9 boards and 2.5 steals per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='379486' first='Avery' last='Childers'], Robert C. Byrd, F, 5-11, Sr. - Ah, [player_tooltip player_id='379486' first='Avery' last='Childers']. Good at being whatever her team needs her to be, especially in every single contest. [player_tooltip player_id='379508' first='Martina' last='Howe'] providers the thunder. [player_tooltip player_id='384297' first='Carleigh' last='Curotz'] provides the lightning. Yet, Childers mixes them both together into a mix of yelling and excitement. Pretty much from the beginning of the season, there came a constant stream of frivolous and energetic energy. Every. Single. Night. There simply wasn't an evening where Childers failed to bring her game. On the year, she tallied 17.4 points on 53% shooting, to go along with 8.3 rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='496331' first='Ashlyn' last='Riley'], Lincoln, W, 5-8, Jr. - A Class AAA All-State First Team without [player_tooltip player_id='496331' first='Ashlyn' last='Riley'] just seems wrong. Really wrong. Really, really wrong. Picture Mt. Rushmore without George Washington, and now you know just how wrong it is to leave Riley off the top group. During a year where Lincoln nearly, nearly qualified for the state tournament, Riley was outstanding. Really, really, really outstanding. She put her game where he mouth was and on the way became one of the best stories in the state. Fans and sportswriters alike were excited to see this young lady. There was just something about the Cougars that hit home the right way. Riley, of course, was a part of that. On the year, she tallied 19.6 points on 40% shooting, while leading her team with 7.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 2.7 steals and 2.2 blocks per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='379522' first='Brooke' last='Adkins'], Wayne, PG, 6-0, Sr. - Look up the definition of competitor in the dictionary and you will see a picture of [player_tooltip player_id='379522' first='Brooke' last='Adkins'] holding another dictionary featuring a picture of [player_tooltip player_id='379522' first='Brooke' last='Adkins']. Seriously. No matter the score, no matter the environment, no matter the moment, Adkins is always coming to play. Her smile turns into a snarl. Her defense frustrates plenty of guards. She simply takes everything to the next level when when she's out on the court with the Pioneers. Just look at those averages! 16 points, 7.5 boards, 3.9 assists and 3.5 steals ain't nothing to shake a leg at! Competitor indeed!

[player_tooltip player_id='496346' first='Kenly' last='Rogers'], East Fairmont, G, 5-7, Jr. - [player_tooltip player_id='496346' first='Kenly' last='Rogers'] knows how to make the best of what talent she has been gifted. Oh yes. Tell her she can't do something, and she's going to find the best and most efficient way to make it happen to the best of her abilities. Perhaps it wouldn't be the way others would do it, but who cares. Her shot works for her. Her attitude works for her. Her approach works for her. Over and over again, she pushes herself consistently higher. On the year, she averaged 18.1 points, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='382867' first='Braylyn' last='Sparks'], Philip Barbour, G, 5-2, Jr. - Electricity ain't got nothing on [player_tooltip player_id='382867' first='Braylyn' last='Sparks']. N-O-T-H-I-N-G. Believe that. When it comes to power sources, Sparks lives up to her name. She fuels. She ignites. She leads. She runs, and runs, and runs. She screams. She keeps the Colts' lights on. All. The. Time. Sure, it sounds like a stretch to say one player does all of that on a team where points are so evenly distributed. Yet, during the Colts' run to the AAA title game, she averaged 14.2 points on 40% shooting, with 4.2 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. Zap!
