130 teams suited up in Wesley Chapel at the Wiregrass Sports Campus this past weekend for 3 days at the Sunshine State Showdown. We take a look at the 17U stand outs.
Jada Eads Jada Eads 5'6" | PG Lake Highland Prep | 2024 State FL (CFE 3SSB 17U Grant Hill)
Eads is fun to watch not matter what the game or opponent. She is fast and aggressive with the ball in her hands and constantly on the attack! She is a skilled offensive player who is nifty with the ball in her hands, has deep 3-point range and a complete playmaker that is instant offense every time she is on the court.
Carmen Richardson Carmen Richardson 5'8" | CG Colonial | 2024 State FL (CFE 3SSB 17U Grant Hill)
Richardson is a big, long, athletic, versatile wing player who has a huge upside. She can score from the perimeter, off the dribble and at the rim! Her body and length are extremely intriguing and stood out in a talented crop of 17U teams.
Lexi Blue Lexi Blue 6'1" | SF Lake Highland Prep | 2024 State FL (CFE 3SSB 17U Grant Hill)
Blue showcased why she is one of the most coveted prospects in the country all weekend. Her length and frame are impressive and really stand out. Blue used her length and wingspan on both ends of the floor, putting the ball in the basket from 3 as well as in the paint. On defense, she was able to get her hands on a lot of balls running through passing lanes and getting deflections and steals!
Jasleen Green Jasleen Green 5'9" | SF American Heritage (Plantation) | 2026 State FL (FGB Team Courtney Williams 17U UAA)
Green is strong, athletic, and talented! She can play both guard spots playing both the roles of distributor, play maker and scorer. As a big guard, she plays well off the shot fake, attacking off the bounce and getting into the paint frequently. She draws contact in the paint and gets to the free throw line often.
Kali Barrett Kali Barrett 6'2" | SF Cardinal Mooney | 2025 State FL (FGB Team Courtney Williams 17U UAA)
Barrett is long, athletic, and versatile. She can play the wing and the forward spot scoring both from the inside and the paint. She grabs defensive rebounds and starts the break with the handle to attack off the bounce and create shots for others as well as going coast to coast to score at the rim!
Lena Girardi Lena Girardi 5'10" | SF IMG Academy | 2025 State FL (Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U)
Girardi is a tough matchup for anyone on the opposing team. She is big, strong, skilled, and aggressive. She has 3-point range, can attack off the bounce, and her build allows her to absorb contact and finish at the rim. Her strength and frame force teams to bring double teams and give Girardi a lot of attention. She draws contact often and gets to the free throw line frequently. Girardi was impressive all weekend for FGB!
Eris Lester Eris Lester 5'10" | SF Montverde Academy | 2024 State FL (Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U)
Lester is an elite athlete who had some WOW moments on the court all weekend! She is a high flyer who is aggressive in the open court, attacking off the dribble and finishing at the rim, high above her defenders. She is explosive when putting the ball to the floor with an exceptional first step and has solid handle with good 1v1 moves to get by her defender and into the paint.
Jade Jones Jade Jones 5'11" | SF King's Academy | 2025 State FL (Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U)
Jones stood out for her aggressive play and competitiveness. She was extremely active on both ends of the floor and set the tone for Team Fowles by competing every single possession. She is the first to the floor for loose balls, rebounds the ball on both ends of the floor by constantly crashing the boards, and is an aggressive defender.
Bri Rivera (JSizzles 3SSB 17U)
Rivera came out hot off the bat on Friday night, knocking down 10 3-pointers in a matchup against vs All Iowa Attack. She is one of the most potent and dangerous perimeter players due to her quick release, deep range, and high percentage she shoots it from 3. Opponents simply can not leave her open anywhere once she crosses half court!
