The balance of Laub’s offensive game is outstanding. After making a few 3-pointers early in one of the games I watched, she began attacking closeouts and getting wide-open lanes to the rim. It felt like everything that she saw she had an answer for. Laub is also a strong wing. Standing at around 6-0, she can shoot over almost any wing defender in front of her, and she isn’t shy about pulling the trigger. After only being back a few months after a significant injury, she looked outstanding.

This weekend was the first time I saw the Monona Grove product on the floor, and I wasn’t disappointed. Smith looked like the most forceful player on the floor whenever I saw her playing. Smith also went through the chests of her defender and got to the rim. The Silver Eagle showed a ton of mobility on both ends of the floor. She can move her feet on the perimeter defensively and is a roll threat, and was an option for a pass off a screen whenever needed. She’s one to watch the rest of the way in AAU.
I’ve seen Timm play in elite camps, AAU games against uber-talented teams, and high school games, but Saturday morning was the best I’d ever seen her play. Yes, she made her fair share of shots, but it felt like she didn’t force anything. Whether it was positioning, off-ball movement, or knowing where her teammates were going to be, Timm seamlessly scored time and time again. She even scored in transition with her left hand through heavy contact for an and-one. I can’t understate how good she was.
The latest Fremd product is as versatile an athlete as anyone I watched play these past few days. Todd used her length to shoot over or get around her initial defender, and she could do it whenever she wanted. I loved how she never settled and looked to put pressure on the rim or get her teammates involved. However, when she got a step on her defender, she always seemed to find a way to finish through multiple kids contesting her shot around the rim.
