Continue ReadingErin Porter Erin Porter 5’9″ | SF Kettle Run | 2024 State VA is a strong and athletic guard who will benefit from more eyes on her this AAU season. She plays on Kettle Run, which isn’t necessarily a popular basketball program. Assuming Erin stays at Kettle Run, this AAU season will likely be her best chance to get some college looks.

Emma O’Connor Emma O’Connor 6’0″ | PF Westfield | 2024 State VA is a terrific defender and very mobile for her size. She has excellent instincts and is a great shot blocker. Westfield was a bad basketball team this season, so Emma got little attention. Playing with some more talent will help her grow her offensive game and, of course, help get some eyes on her.
Desirae Ashton Desirae Ashton 6’1″ | PF Bishop Ireton | 2024 State VA missed most of the season for Bishop Ireton with a torn ACL, but she is back now and looking to have a big spring/summer. Desirae is an elite athlete and one of the most athletic players in this class. She can shoot the ball well and Is a versatile basketball player. She played the last couple of games in the back half of the season for Bishop Ireton, but I am sure she’ll want to prove she’s the same player post-injury.

A common theme with many of these girls on this list is that they play on bad high school teams, so the AAU season is their opportunity to get more eyes on them. Ava Sawi Ava Sawi 5’8″ | CG Episcopal | 2024 State VA plays on Episcopal; although they play a lot of high-level opposition, they aren’t a good team. Playing on Boo Williams will give more people a chance to see her not on the end of the losing end of a beatdown. Ava is tremendous on both ends, and as highly touted as she is, she has a chance to move up this spring/summer. Ava is very quick off the dribble and can shoot the ball well. Watch out for her this summer

I watched a lot of Jahniya Marion Jahniya Marion 5’5″ | CG Centreville HS | 2024 State VA this year for Centreville. She was the player of the year in her conference and was the best player on an outstanding Centreville team. She has a high ceiling that she has yet to reach. She is a tremendous athlete and a good defender. It will be huge for her game if Jahniya refines some of the parts offensively as a half-court scorer. She will be a big player this AAU season, and her stock will rise, which is saying a lot, considering she’s ranked 33rd in Virginia for 2024.
