Day 1 started at 9 am Friday morning with teams all across the southeast and midwest coming to compete against one another. Here are some of the top performers that I saw on Friday.
Sarah Strong Sarah Strong 6’2″ | PF Grace Christian | 2024 State NC is so persistent on the court hustling back on defense to grab the steal, getting offensive rebounds for some second chances. It’s not surprise that she came out strong scoring the first six points for her team attacking the basket and getting some rebounds. She continues to show off her IQ directing her teammates where to go with the ball to get some points. Of course she showed off her stroke from deep, too. She showed off her strength making the long pass up the court for a fast break.
Lexie Dawson Lexie Dawson 5’7″ | SG Ashe County | 2024 NC knocked down her shot from deep off the pass. She had three three pointers in the first half, and she continued in the second half attacking the basket making three point plays the old fashioned way. She was moving well with the ball to shift the defense and find her open teammate around the arc or underneath the basket.
Ellie Lynx is playing with 865 Elite 17U this weekend, and she showed off her stroke from deep off the in bounds pass and in the face of her defender. She did this in transition, too, losing her defender and knocking down the shot. She used her hot streak to attack the basket off shot fakes getting some points in the paint, too.
Jamiria Jones
Jamiria Jones
Jamiria Jones knocked down her shot from deep. She hustled back on defense making a nice block on a fast break leading to a three from deep as she passed away and relocated. She continued to show off her shot from deep in the second half. She hit 6 threes in the game finishing with 22 points.
Khloe Thompson Khloe Thompson 5’6″ | CG Cannon | 2025 State NC came in with high energy and knocked down her shot from around the arc. She had a nice in and out dribble move that she used to get by her opponent and score an old fashioned three point play. She took over for her team in the second half scoring on all levels and getting after any loose balls to keep her team in the game.
Samantha Shehan Samantha Shehan 6’0″ | CG Lake Norman | 2025 State NC has a knack for releasing the ball quickly, and she always has her eyes set on the hoop. She can knock it down for deep or put it right back up from offensive rebounds. She has a nice midrange jumper, too, making it difficult for anyone to close out effectively on her. She gets inside for rebounds on both ends, and she does a nice job seeing the floor for her teammate cutting to the hoop.
