Teams from all over the country were there to compete against one another in their first live event of the season in hopes of gaining the attention of college coaches. The following athletes are ones that I deemed dominant paint protectors!
Icyss Storm Icyss Storm 6’1″ | SF Grace Christian | 2025 State NC does a nice job getting open flashing in the paint. She sees the floor well, especially from the top of the key gettin the pass and finding her open teammate underneath the basket. She hustled back on offense getting some fast break points off the long pass from her teammate.
Highlights
Lauren French Lauren French 6’1″ | PF South Point | 2024 NC uses her height effectively squaring up to the basket and being ready to turn and score. She can attack the basket on her own catching the ball from the free throw line. In the second half, her opponents started double teaming her on the block trying to take away her game.
Isabella Pease
Isabella Pease
Isabella Pease was blocking shots and getting some space on the block to score her points on the other end. She slid into the openings to shift the defense and score. She was constantly moving on offense flashing to get the pass and wear down her defender.
Edina Strausz Edina Strausz 6’4″ | C Winston Salem Christian National | 2024 State NC was a shot blocker in the paint. She rebounded well on both ends of the court, too. She is very powerful with her legs sealing off her opponents and creating a large target for her to get the entry pass from her teammates.
Shyanne Tate Shyanne Tate 5’10” | CG William Fleming | 2026 State VA was persistent in the paint going after rebounds for her FBC Carolina Elite Drew team. She used offensive boards for some second chance points. Her length was an asset blocking shots and causing disruptions for her opponents as they tried to drive against her.
