These players made a lot of great plays in front of college scouts, fans, and on streaming sites, etc. In this article, we look at the “fast-break” hilights provided by players from around the State of Florida.
Nesmith connected on several threes in the tournament. She is an agressive three point shooter who knocked down 5 threes for the event. Nesmith can string them together when she gets it going.
Highlights
Schroeder had some impressive plays during the tournament. There was one stretch when the forward pulled up on back to back possesions and connected on two three pointers.
Nearly 6 feet tall, the 8th grader Safford made some plays against players much older than she is. Down the stretch in some close games, Safford had some very timely blocked shots. Her offensive game is still developing, but she can block shots if you challenge the lengthy middle schooler in the paint
The shooting by Cortez was on point during Deep South Classic. In one game, the sharp shooting guard knocked down 4 threes. She shot it with a lot of confidence. In ballgames, Cortez is not afraid to let it fly.
Jeanglaude poured in 20 in one of her games. She was a force on the glass and also got out in transition. She scored a lot on the inside, but also connected on one three pointer in the ball game.
Rodgers has some good moments shooting the three pointer, including 2 in one of her games. Rodgers also got to the freethrown line. Rodgers played well in the Deep South Classic.
Kenney gets the heart award for the tournament for diving at loose balls and taking the ball to the rack against formidable defensive players. One important detail – Kenney was doing all of this with a broken nose. Her play exemplifies the passion that many have for this game of basketball.
