It played host to this year’s Deep South Classic which welcomed teams not only from the Hoop State but from other neighboring states and others from as far away as Connecticut and Washington. The area is also home to some of the women’s college game’s most revered programs such as NC State and North Carolina.
We at Prep Girls Hoops made the trip up to Raleigh for the weekend’s festivities. These stock risers did not have far to travel to let those coaches know they had their balling shoes on.

Team Griggs 16U’s matchup with South Carolina-based Capital City Tyrants 16U was one of the more offensively gifted of any on the first day of the Deep South Classic. Richard had herself a game that paced her team to victory as she scored nine points en route to the win. She led Team Griggs 16U’s backcourt efforts not only by giving a 3-point shooting dimension to the offense, but by attacking the rim. Richard also had herself a well-played game in terms of staying out of foul trouble – she only had one personal foul called against her for the game.
Where her teammate Kayleigh Richard Kayleigh Richard 5’6″ | PG Charlotte Catholic | 2025 NC led the backcourt efforts, Graham was too much for Capital City Tyrants 16U to handle in the frontcourt. Graham put together a 24-point performance in what was one of the more offensive-minded contest of the first day. She will prepare to box out in case of a missed free throw by an opponent. Graham also will display the ball handling capabilities of a guard while traditionally playing as a big. She will look to find spacing in the interior and also excels as a rebounder. Graham can also convert on many a tough attempt from the field.

CP3 Basketball Academy 2024 was one of the teams that competed in the final game of Friday evening’s slate at the Deep South Classic. She concluded her evening with 11 points on what was otherwise a tough night at the office against SC Future 17U. Hairston particularly made her presence felt in the latter part of the contest. In addition to what she can do as a scorer, she understands when the right time is to make the extra pass. Hairston also does plenty of the little things that do not always show up on a scoresheet – such as hustle plays. Rebounding is another element of the game where she displays her strength.

The first game of this year’s rendition of the Deep South Classic may not have been what Carolina Waves Haddock 14U was in search for, but Davis had herself a noteworthy individual performance. Davis began her weekend with a 16 point outing against South Carolina-based Palmetto 76ers 14U. She combines speed with an ability to find driving lanes through defenses. Those will likely result in strong finishes at the rim. Davis also has the ability to drain her attempts from 3-point range. Upside is what coaches look for when watching younger teams – one will see Davis’ face in the dictionary when looking up “upside.”
