There were also some new faces that I got to lay my eyes on. Let’s take a look at some of the top performers from the Dynasty Region Kick Off.
Jaylen Cauthron Jaylen Cauthron 5'9" | CG Idabel | 2027 OK | Guard | Team Griffin 2027 Atkinson
Team Griffin was a dominant team the whole weekend and part of the reason for their dominance is the play of Jaylen. The 5’7 guard really put forth the effort defensively with her on-ball pressure, anticipation in the passing lanes, her rotation in the zone press, and her attention to details of forcing baseline in the half-court. She could secure the defensive rebound and then push the ball in transition. Jaylen shot the three, attacked off the dribble, played through contact and when she didn’t have the ball she knew how to utilize cuts and screens to get open.
Hadley Campbell | Wing | Oklahoma Storm 2027
Hadley had a solid performance over the weekend. She wasn’t going to wow you with a lot of fancy moves and dribbling, but she was impressive with her poise and her fundamental skill set. Hadley is the player that is going to make plays for team to put them in position to win. She’s not going to do too much and no matter how much you press or pressure her on defense she will keep her cool. She attacks closeouts well off the catch with her ability to get downhill off the dribble and she can spot up and make the three ball.
Maliyah Bell | Forward | Kansas Bluejays 2027
Players that have a nice all around game tend to get my attention. The 5’11 forward played well over the weekend with her rebounding, defense, and unselfish play. She showed she can run the floor by getting out in transition and finishing at the rim. Maliyah can operate out of the low post, high post, and can step out on the perimeter and knockdown a spot up three-pointer.
Maya Williams | Guard | Team Game Changer 2027
I love seeing players give effort and play with energy when they are scoring and even when they are not seeing the ball go in the basket. Maya’s effort was based on scoring, it was based on wanting to win. She’s a good athlete that can play both inside and out. She attacks off the bounce and can get to the rim and finish through contact. She pushes the ball in transition and can finish under control with good footwork. When she doesn’t have the ball she moves well and can attack closeouts. Defensively she’s great at anticipating and has quick hands when guarding the ball.
Ka’moriya Davis | Forward | Texas Flyte 2027
Ka’moriya is a good athlete that has a nice motor. She uses her athletic ability well around the rim. Whether she’s fighting for a rebound, scoring from the low block, or defending the paint, her presence will be felt around the basket. She can post up with her back to the basket and play through contact and finish with either hand. She also runs the floor well, anticipates on defense, and is a shot blocker.
