Continue ReadingInia Jones Inia Jones 5’7″ | PG Omaha Central | 2024 State NE is everything advertised and more as a prospect. Jones is a player with a sneaky fast dribble and insane athleticism. She flys down the floor faster than most, while keeping control of her dribble every step of the way. When she attacks the hoop she does it with intention. What that means is that she would rather get hit and go to the foul-line with some contact, than have an easy look at the rim. I watched Jones today lead her team to success on the floor and she looked great doing it. I expect to see more of this tomorrow for their games, as they will attempt to keep their momentum up going into Day 2, proving that they are one of the best 17U teams in this tournament.
Like in usual fashion Camdyn Kay Camdyn Kay 5’10” | CG Dubuque Hempstead | 2024 State IA showed up this afternoon for her Iowa Prep 2024 Platinum team. Kay, a physical and savvy combo guard put together quite the game. She displayed a great sense for what was happening on the floor, was diving for loose balls left and right, and stuffed the stat sheet in several different categories throughout the contest. I think the best part of Camdyn’s game is that she is consistent and keeps it simple. For example, in this one her team had a huge size advantage in the post. Kay and company did a great job of feeding their center consistently throughout the ball game, leading to a 30 point victory over a well known CY Select program. If she can continue to stay consistent with how she is producing, then she will be fielding a good amount of calls from college programs in the near future this spring, if she isn’t already.
Jensyn Storhoff
Jensyn Storhoff
Easily one of the most impressive players I saw throughout the day on the court Saturday was Jensyn Storhoff. Storhoff would be labeled as a combo guard in my opinion because she can either play the 1 or 2, depending on what is asked of her. This morning she played up for her Air Minnesota 2024 team and was the best player on the floor in my eyes. She led her team in scoring, showed that she is coordinated with a lot of skill, and displayed a maturity that you usually don’t see at her age. Not to mention that all of this happened in a comeback victory for her team. When looking forward, Storhoff’s ceiling is high. A player who can determine the outcome of a game entirely by how she plays. Sometimes there is just something special you can tell about a player when you see them in action on the floor and I get that feeling here. She is going to really shine the rest of this AAU season and into the future.
Grace Holm Grace Holm 5’9″ | SG Douglas County West | 2024 State NE ‘s today in both of her contests displayed that she is a natural with the ball in her hands. She has a smooth dribble with a bunch of counter-moves and a quick trigger to pull from distance, if her defender gives her space. There were several occasions in game today where she put the ball on the floor and created for herself or the teammates around her. Defensively she is a tenacious on-ball defender who communicates really well. All in all, Holm’s is going to get her’s this AAU season. She is the type of player who can heat up in a hurry on the offensive side of the ball and isn’t afraid of doing so. If she see’s one go in to start a game, it could be a long one for the opposing team.
Carly Rich
Carly Rich
Carly Rich hit the 3 pointer to go up by 1 with 12 second left in double overtime this afternoon to help her team to victory over Air Minnesota 2025. Don’t get it twisted though, Rich played well throughout the entirety of the contest and in more then one aspect of the game. She was a controller of tempo, created for others while leaving her body out on the line, and kept a positive attitude throughout the good OR the bad. Even when she made the 3 pointer at the end of that second overtime, she kept her cool afterwards and talked to her teammates about how to get a stop on defense so that they could finish off the game with a win. Some really impressive stuff while watching it up close. Overall, Rich had a fantastic day and I expect to see that all again tomorrow! She is more than capable of it.
