Program Preview: Lady Roughriders

AAU season is upon us which means Team Previews are in full swing. In this article, I'll be taking an in-depth look at the [program_tooltip program_id='714091' first='Lady' last='Roughriders'] a program that has plenty of players to watch heading into summer play. I'll be breaking down the 16U and 17U teams, from players to watch, standouts, and names to know.   17U National Roster   [player_tooltip player_id='720582' first='Bella' last='Chang'] - Fairview 2024   [player_tooltip player_id='145418' first='Charlotte' last='Brennan']- Mead 2023   [player_tooltip player_id='574974' first='Darby' last='Haley']- Mead 2025   [player_tooltip player_id='642093' first='Gianna' last='Wurth']- Mead 2024   [player_tooltip player_id='216737' first='McKenzie' last='Wood']- Mullen 2024   Lindie Holland- Horizon 2024   [player_tooltip player_id='624959' first='Mackenzie' last='Griffin'] - Vista Peak 2024   [player_tooltip player_id='720584' first='Reese' last='Trobaugh']- Monarch 2024   [player_tooltip player_id='624962' first='Remy' last='Tolar']- Fairview 2024   This 17U Roughriders team is built a little differently from other club teams. They don't have 2-3 post players that will clog up the lane making it hard guards to get into the paint. They are built to run and gun while using being from Colorado to their advantage. [player_tooltip player_id='624962' first='Remy' last='Tolar'], [player_tooltip player_id='642093' first='Gianna' last='Wurth'] and [player_tooltip player_id='720584' first='Reese' last='Trobaugh'] are fully capable of holding post players when they come upon them. While also being able to take slower bigs off the dribble putting pressure on the defense. Opening the floor for guards like [player_tooltip player_id='624959' first='Mackenzie' last='Griffin'], [player_tooltip player_id='720582' first='Bella' last='Chang'] to get downhill for easy points in the half-court. [player_tooltip player_id='216737' first='McKenzie' last='Wood'] and [player_tooltip player_id='145418' first='Charlotte' last='Brennan'] add shooting, so just when opposing teams think they've gotten them figured out here comes back-to-back 3's to open the floor back up. Lindie Holland and [player_tooltip player_id='574974' first='Darby' last='Haley'] will be X-Factors on this team seeing as how they can do a little bit of everything on the offensive side of the floor.   16U National Premier    [player_tooltip player_id='495857' first='Gracie' last='Ward'] - Holy Family 2026   [player_tooltip player_id='592727' first='Graysen' last='Redpath']- Regis Jesuit 2025   [player_tooltip player_id='624953' first='Annabelle' last='Rakers']- Flat Irons Academy 2025   [player_tooltip player_id='767166' first='Gabrielle' last='Newble']- Horizon 2025   Noelani Book- Denver Christian 2025   [player_tooltip player_id='329405' first='Savannah' last='Weiss']- Monarch 2025   Alexiah Toval- Regis Jesuit 2025   Adisyn Rademacher- Mead 2025   [player_tooltip player_id='792683' first='Sienna' last='Williams']- Monarch 2025   When looking at this team they all stand out just by how young they are but [player_tooltip player_id='329405' first='Savannah' last='Weiss'] and Grace Ward are names that I know will carry a heavy load as far as ballhandling goes. Both are on the smaller side but surely have the ability to change the game with their quickness. Adisyn Rademacher will serve as another guard that handles the ball but can also play off the ball and create offense on the wing. [player_tooltip player_id='624953' first='Annabelle' last='Rakers'], Noelani Book and Alexiah Toval will be responsible for putting the ball in the basket when a bucket is needed most, a role that they are all ready for. Greysen Redpath will be a player to watch as the summer goes on seeing as she has all the intangibles to become a household name. X-Factors for this team are [player_tooltip player_id='767166' first='Gabrielle' last='Newble'] and [player_tooltip player_id='792683' first='Sienna' last='Williams'] the contributions they're able to give on both sides of the ball will be huge in this team winning games.   16U Elite    Larkin Rummel - Erie    Jillian Bickford - Holy Family   [player_tooltip player_id='881708' first='Isabella' last='Ayer']- Silver Creek   Gianna Schmidt - Stargate    Lillian Tompkins- Horizon   Payton Crispin- Mead    Payton Jenson- Legacy    Sophia Gilbert- Erie   [player_tooltip player_id='882253' first='Sophia' last='Godfrey']- Silver Creek   This 2nd 16U team will give some younger players a chance to gain some experience in different roles competing against tougher competition. While most of these players have flown under the radar over the last year or so Gianna Schmidt is one of the names, we've seen have a big impact on the varsity level. So, look for her to be calm and composed under pressure. Jillian Bickford is another name that sticks out as a tough guard that score in different ways, adding another leader to the team. [player_tooltip player_id='881708' first='Isabella' last='Ayer'], Lillian Tompkins and Sophia Gilbert will be great wing options, stretching the floor with shooting and crashing the glass for 2nd chance points. With [player_tooltip player_id='882253' first='Sophia' last='Godfrey'], Payton Jenson and Payton Crispin filling any voids the team needs as the game goes on.
