I scouted the Kansas Dream Team 2025 16U team’s first game of the tournament a 49-35 loss to Kansas Elite 2025 DDI.
Here is a look at four players who performed well for the Dream team, a squad compromised of players from small central and western Kansas high schools.
Elsie Boughfman Elsie Boughfman 5'9" | PF Smoky Valley | 2025 State KS , 5’10, PF, Little River
Boughfman is a physical player with a strong all-around game. She can score from all three levels and had a strong second-half performance after the Dream Team dug itself a large first-half hole. The Little River prospect scored a team-high 13 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 from the free throw line. The physical Boughfman also had a team-high five rebounds in the loss. She can shoot with her back to the rim, off the drive, or from behind the arc. Boughfman will have to decide before her junior season if she wants to be a predator on the court or an “Apex Predator.” If she improves her focus and mental toughness, she could dominate games.
Lydia Reed Lydia Reed 6'2" | C St. John | 2025 State KS , 6’2”, C, St. John
I scouted Reed for Prep Dig Kansas during the club volleyball season, so I was not a stranger to her game. The St. John prospect is tall and lanky. She finished with three blocks, three steals, and two assists. She needs to work harder to get to the glass and needs to improve her upper body strength. She is a middle-blocker in volleyball. That seems to be the sport she enjoys the most. If she gets physically tougher, she will have scouts looking at her for both sports.
Hope Hughes Hope Hughes 5'8" | SG Pratt | 2026 State KS , 5’7”, SF, Pratt
Hughes is an interesting player. She without a doubt has some athletic gifts. Hughes finished with five points on 2-of-5 shooting from the field and added two rebounds and one steal. She made one of the prettiest jumpers of the night, but at other times just looked out of sync. She is a young player to watch and see how she progresses and evolves.
Abigail Pearson Abigail Pearson 5'7" | CG Southeast Of Saline | 2026 State KS , 5’7”, PG, Southeast of Saline
Pearson is a point guard with a linebacker’s frame. She is one tough cookie. She had an off-shooting night scoring just three points, all of which came from the free-throw line. She is not afraid to drive and she dishes off the ball well. The Southeast of Saline Trojan came up short on her one free throw attempt and did put herself in tough spots with no options on more than one occasion. Pearson finished with three rebounds and did prove that she can play a physical game from the point.
