Kennedy Paul- Nike Pro Skills Chad 2024 [2024]
Paul is “long and athletic” which will always be the BASE and I repeat that over and ever for a number of reasons, mainly because that’s one of the profiles college coaches love, and here are her intangibles. She’s an aggressive rebounder, and scores after contact on putbacks but she can also take her man off the dribble and finish strongly. Her pull-up jumper is solid, and so is her defense, in and outside the paint
Trinidi King-5’11 G (TX Platinum 2024 S40 Morefield) Royce City [2024]
King has SWTB, “speed with the ball” and watching her attack off the dribble in the set was nice but she also went coast to coast a few times after playing the passing lane. Her handling the ball in the open court and seeing the floor were big pluses, she too is long and athletic, and her “on the ball” defense helped create turnovers. She also hit the boards, on both ends
Brooklyn Hurtado-6’3 C (TX Platinum 2024 S40 Morefield) Cisco [2024]
Hurtado gets the #THROWBACK hashtag for showing something else I love from another era, “hands and footwork” and she understands how to seal the defender and score, with either hand, that’s also a huge plus to go with her height. She rebounds on both ends of the court and just as importantly, runs the floor on both ends of the court
Mikaela Curtis-5’8 G (TNBA Houston 2024) Salt and Light [2024]
Curtis has taken her game to another level, I think back to seeing her in elementary school, and watching her progression has been a pleasure. Yes, I knew she would be good but her pull-up jumper is one of her go-to ways of scoring, and her ability to score off the dribble keeps the defender guessing. She also sees the floor and makes good decisions, and she’s a long and athletic guard, that works too
Alayna Yates-6’2 F/C (TNBA Houston 2024) Legacy [2025]
Tates was overpowering inside the paint every time I caught her DESIRE to go after the ball, on both ends of the court, which made her one of the top rebounders at the event, she averaged double digits. That same DESIRE was apparent as she dove on the floor for loose balls and I love things you can’t teach. Her inside moves keep getting better, again “hands and footwork” make a big difference and she used them
Treasure Emeh-5’8 G (Houston Lady Nets 2024) Oak Ridhe [2024]
Emeh is an athletic guard that’s also long, I switched it up, but she switches it up too as her explosive first step is one of my favorite things to see, yet her acrobat finishes also fall into that same category. She can do the pull-up jumper from midrange, in the set, or in transition yet she sees the floor the length of the court, and her “on the money” passes are also nice, so is her “on-the-ball” defense
Amariah Burns-5’11 PF/C (Houston Lady Nets 2024) Grand Oaks [2025]
Burns continues to be on fire as she averaged near a double-double every time I saw her play. She plays taller than her height, nice hands and footwork enable her to score, contact is irrelevant, and she’s even showing the drop step, something else that gets the #THROWBACK hashtag. Her interior defense is nice, she’s even stepping outside the paint to defend showing good lateral movement
