SubscribeMore stars of tomorrow I caught at the Who’s Next All-American game and not only was I happy to get a jump on some of the top 2027 players in Texas, some I hadn’t seen, but I also was excited to see new faces as well as progression from players I already knew about
Ashley MacCalla-5’10 F [NY]
MacCalla sold me off the top with her spin move going full speed yet she’s “long and athletic” and let me remind you again that is the base. She rebounds on both ends, plays solid defense, she plays the passing lane but she also has good timing. Her first step was very nice as she attacked the basket from multiple angles and her body control was equally impressive as she finished strongly after contact
Jordan Speller-5’5 G [NC]
Speller handles the ball under pressure very well and also does a good job of seeing the floor while being defended in the set as well as in transition. She created her shot and was able to knock it down from outside but she also has a deceptive first step to attack the basket and finish after contact, her body control played a part in that as well. A solid defender that plays the passing lane well

Read has been impressing me for quite some time and watching her progression on the court right before my eyes tells me she’s been working and adding more is always a good thing. I knew she could shoot it, she’s creating and dropping it better under pressure and her stop-and-pop in transition was nice. Her body control on her finishes as well as her defense,
Trinity Boone-5’7 G [OK]
Boone is another young lady I’ve had a chance to watch for I guess 3 years now and I remember her poise playing against older players as well as doing things instinctively, and how she reacted in certain situations told me what was coming. She’s taller and stronger and her pull-up jumper in the set and transition to go along with her scoring off the dribble is going to create some problems for defenders and she defends

Simmons is drumroll please, “long and athletic: so you know what that means. Here are some of her intangibles to go along with the base, first of all, she plays the passing lane and can handle the ball afterward, under pressure. She also can score off the dribble, has a nice first step, and solid body control on her finishes, but she also can drop the mid to long range and defend in the set as well as “baseline to baseline”
De’Andra Minor-5’11 [OK]
Minor being “long and athletic” will create MAJOR problems for defenders for a number of reasons. She rebounds, on both ends and can go “coast to coast” after the defensive rebound while being pressured. Her court vision is nice, she threads the needle going full speed and also in the set yet her finishes at times are acrobatic and she does it after the lick. She also does a good job defending
Samari Holmen Samari Holmen 5'6" | PG Duncanville | 2027 TX -5’6 PG [TX]
Holmen was another young player with very nice body control as she attacks the basket, especially after contact, and that alone puts her in the “and one” waiting to happen category when she enters high school. She understands how to not only create her shot but get it off and knock it down with a hand in her face. She also “sees the floor” and makes good decisions
Maddie Vickery-6’1 F[KS]
Vickery rhymes with VICTORY, I’ve used that before and will keep on because I know what’s coming. I remember seeing this long and athletic player at Border War coming out of nowhere to block shots yet she keeps adding on both ends. Her midrange jumper is really nice and peep this, she will be heavily recruited because college coaches love players at the magic number that can do that, 6’0 is the magic number. The magic doesn’t stop there as she can handle the ball after playing the passing lane as well as score off the dribble, plus she has solid court vision
Kayli Kellogg-5’5 PG [TX]
Kellogg has a variety of moves to get the defender off balance and her HEZ is ahead of her years. She has the COP, change of pace to go with the hesitation so her jumper is ready to go, from mid to long-range, whenever she wants. She also scores off the dribble and her FLOATA in traffic had me smiling but she brings heat defensively, plays the passing lane, and “sees the floor” well so her being the daughter of a college coach has had her absorbing a lot over her career already
