17U Guard Standouts at Candace Dupree Invitational

We covered some of the opening day standouts in the 17U division and also looked at other Junior standouts in the tournament. Her efficient three point shooting was also impressive. Ferguson can shoot the three and the midrange shot. The things most impressive about her game were her defensive plays that she turned into transitional baskets, her court vision, and her pinpoint passes. She passed it well in transition and in regular offensive sets. She was able to score from behind the arc and also in the midrange game. Talbert did a little of everything in the tournament. She handled the ball well and played solid defense. She has always been a versatile player who can get to the rim and also shoot from the outside. The one thing that Seward has is the clutch gene. Some years ago at the Big House she hit a game winner in the 8th grade championship game. Last season she was clutch down the stretch at Run 4 the Roses, and she did it again at the Candace Dupree Invitational. Seward calmly knocked down a three pointer to tie the game with under a  minute remaining. Pollard's long range three pointers were eye opening. Pollard is usually matched against wings, but showed a lot of versatility when she was matched up against a future D1 power forward.
