Class of 2024: Class 2A Prolific Scorers Part One

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Staff for the Prep Girls Hoops Kansas site is currently working on a large update for the Class of 2024 rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This scouting report is the first of two on players from Class 2A schools who were big-time scorers as juniors.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In Class 2A schools there were unofficially more than a dozen players who averaged double-digit scoring totals during their junior seasons.&nbsp; Here is a report on eight prolific scorers in the Class of 2024 who averaged 12 points or more during the 2022-2023 season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='453859' first='Josey' last='Kennedy']</strong>, 5'5”, PG, Hoxie</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kennedy unofficially led all 2024 scorers from Class 2A. She finished her junior season averaging 18.4 points per game. She can score from three levels and has a pretty 3-point shot. She increased her average by almost a full five points per game between her sophomore and junior seasons.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='744050' first='Korie' last='Kirkwood'], </strong>5'8” PF, Santa Fe Trail</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kirkwood averaged 15 points per game during her junior campaign. She can score in the paint and she likes to drive the ball. She also averaged 9.9 rebounds per game to fall just short of averaging a double-double over 22 games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Grace Hett</strong>, 5'5”, G, Marion</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hett averaged 14.9 points per game as a junior. She is a two-sport star. She has been on Prep Dig's radar as a Libero for Marion and Shockwave Volleyball Club. Hett has committed to play volleyball for Wichita State University, but she is still fun to watch on the basketball court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='429991' first='Megan' last='Ricke']</strong>, 5'8”, SG, &nbsp;Wichita County</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ricke averaged 13.5 points per game during the 2022-2023 season. She has played varsity since her freshman season. Her scoring average has increased from each season to the next. I don't have a crystal ball, but I would project that she averaged 16.4 points per game as a senior. She also averaged 8.8 rebounds per game. She understands the game and communicates well on the court. She has a knack for getting open and putting the biscuit in the basket.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Makayla Boyd</strong>, 5'8”, SG, Oskaloosa</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Boyd averaged 12.6 points per game during the 2022-2023 season. She also averaged 6.4 points per game. She is a multiple-sport talent who also shines on the volleyball court as a defensive specialist.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='606258' first='Olivia' last='Lange']</strong>, 5'7”, G, Conway Springs</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lange averaged 12.6 points per game during her junior season for Conway Springs. She knows how to fill a stat sheet as she also averaged 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 2.1 assists per game. She shoots really well from the free throw line with a free throw shooting percentage of 75 percent.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='743347' first='Carlie' last='Martin']</strong>, 5'6”, G, Meade</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Martin scored 12.3 points per game during for Meade during the 2022-2023 season. She also averaged 2.2 assists and 2.9 points per game.
