Just one more added dimension to a powerhouse Camas team. Kendall is a defensive specialist who takes pride in what she does on the defensive end of the floor. Camas is loaded with talent, and Kendall is no exception. She just happens to do it all without scoring a ton of points. She comes up big time after time, making sure that her team has that defensive stopper and all hustle player. She has the size and versatility to defend on multiple levels. She came up with a couple of big plays in a win over Bellarmine Prep, helping Camas to advance in the playoffs. A quote from Camas head coach Scott Thompson in an article from Clark County Today by Paul Valencia sums up the effort along with emphasizing the importance of Mairs defense.
“There was a little run where Kendall had a charge, and a couple blocked shots. It just felt like she was an absolute menace defensively,” Thompson said. “After she took a charge, I looked back at (assistant coach Mike) Dillman, ‘Are you seeing this right now?’ He responded, “Kendall’s amazing”.
The Eastmont guard uses her speed and athleticism to get after it on the defensive end. She is a player who can do a bulk of the scoring for her team and much of that starts with her quickness and speed to the ball. She can anticipate well and jumps passing lanes, which results in fast break layups for her and her teammates. I only found one game’s full stats as listed by max preps but she did have six steals in the season opener. Watching her play leads me to the conclusion that she probably gets an abundance of thefts in most games, taking it to the offensive end, where she is in attack mode much of the time.
A true shot changing presence in the paint with her length and shot blocking abilities. Ellensburg pressures teams non stop with their defensive scheme and she fits in perfectly as that 2nd line of defense. If teams make it that far. With the loss of Olivia Anderson Olivia Anderson 6’6″ | PF Ellensburg | 2023 State #37 Nation WA , Marrs will be counted on to step up both on offense and defense next season, and should be up for the challenge. Ellensburg hasn’t lost a game in two years, so she is a proven winner and used to being at the top which only helps the cause. Also a standout volleyball recruit, she an athlete with good pedigree.
A Lightning quick lefty guard can really defend and makes for ample opportunity to take the ball away on defense. Something she excels at. She also is a capable finishing guard who loves to play at a fast pace. A true competitor by nature. It shows up on defense and creates offense. The lefty guard can make shots from three but she is best in the open floor and that is a result of the defensive prowess a good bit of the time.
I watched Grace play this spring and came away impressed with her overall game. She is a player who can do a lot of things well, including being a great defender on the perimeter with the quickness to disrupt. She has a nice looking shot and the ceiling is high in my opinion for her to make big improvements next year and beyond. She is a smooth player with natural athletic ability that translate into her improving her stats from this season. She averaged 9 points, 6 rebounds, and over 3 steals per game. Look for her to become a prospect to watch with all the skills to make that next jump in the 2024 season. This is a talented backcourt for North Thurston, with Lee playing alongside Soraya Ogaldez Soraya Ogaldez 5’7″ | PG North Thurston | 2025 State WA who is #7 in the updated 2025 rankings.
