There is nothing like changing momentum and these are some of the players I caught that did just that, in a variety of ways that created sparks
Ashley Patterson-5’6 G (Parish Episcopal) Lady Sharks 2024 [2024]
Patterson is a heady guard that understands what getting hers “in the flow” means and her stop-and-pop jumpers in transition were n Texas Ice ‘ last=”] as well as her scoring off the dribble. She also hit jumpers in the set but her playing the passing lane and seeing the floor helped in a variety of ways
Reese Hodge-5’4 G (Sace) Athletic Elite Basketball [2024]
Hodge did a number of #THRO WBA ‘ last=”]CK things that took me back to another era starting with her understanding of positioning to not only rebound but score on putbacks against taller players. She also scored off the dribble as well as dropping the jumper but her defense and playing the passing lane made things happen
Savannah Scruggs Savannah Scruggs 5'9" | SG L G Pinkston | 2024 State TX -5’9 G (Pinkston) True Texas Hoops 2024 National [2024]
Scruggs is heady and sets the defender up n Texas Ice ‘ last=”]ly to either score off the dribble or create her shot from outside. She has good court vision yet her going after loose balls along with baseline-to-baseline pressure helped to create turnovers were definite boosts
Mady Shield Mady Shield 5'5" Throckmorton | 2024 TX -5’6 PG (Throckmorton) Shock ‘ last=”]ers’] 2024 [2024]
Shield is a heady PG that understands the game starts at the 1. She sees the floor and handles the ball under pressure yet on the flip, she applies heat defensively but she also scores, off the dribble as well as from outside. Her understanding of setting her teammates up always shines along with her being “vocal on the court”
Shamiah Johnson-6’2 P (Sherman ) C 4 Attack [2024]
Johnson came in and immediately made her presence felt using her college-ready frame to score around the basket. She also showed the midrange a few times but her rebounding and running the floor on both ends, along with her interior defense created issues
Asia Johnson-5’3 G (Arlington Seguin) Hoop Culture 2024 [2023]
Johnson is an athletic guard that uses her athleticism on both ends of the court. Her first step enabled her to get wherever she wanted and she either scored off the dribble. dropped the jumper or hit teammates for assist opportunities. She also applied pressure defensively
Amarion Tease Amarion Tease 5'8" | SF Owasso | 2024 State OK -5’9 G (Owasso) Oklahoma Texas Ice ‘ last=”] 2024 [2024]
Tease attacked the basket strongly and powerfully using a deceptive first step and her body control was very n Texas Ice ‘ last=”] on her finishes after contact included. She also showed she could score from outside but on the other end, she applied “on the ball” pressure and her quick hands got her some steals
Taylor Wilson Taylor Wilson 5'10" | SF Copperas Cove | 2024 State TX -5’10 F (Copperas Cove) Team Stay Ready 2024 [2024]
Wilson consistently shows that she’s in the “you won’t outwork me” category. She battle for everything off the rim, as well as loose balls, including diving on the floor. She defends both in and outside the paint, her full-court pressure was very n Texas Ice ‘ last=”] and she scored around the basket, after contact as well as facing it
Taylor Hines-5’3 G (Charles Patterson MS) United Lady Elite 2025 [2027]
Hines had me tease her that I spelled her name Heinz because defenders had to “catch up” with her but her speed with the ball along with seeing the floor in the open court helped get her team going several times. She scored off the dribble, she also did a good job defensively
Reese Crabtree-5’7 G (Argyle) True Texas Hoops 2025 S40 [2025]
Crabtree can flat-out shoot the ball and needs to be guarded immediately. Her mid to long-range always stand out but she showed me more of the “catch and shoot” as well as scoring off the dribble. Court vision, in the set as well as in transition, was solid, and so was her defense
Gavin Robinson-5’6 G (Lakeridge) Team Stay Ready 2025 [2025]
Robinson was another heady PG that gets it, well she always has understood how to run a team and her controlling the tempo as well as setting teammates up for scoring opportunities was n Texas Ice ‘ last=”]. Her on-the-ball defense was strong, she even played the passing lane
