Included will be commitments, de-commitments, new offers and anything else that might be happening amongst high school prospects in New Jersey. This is the second part of the update as we had quite a bit of recruiting news in the past several weeks.
Ewing’s Te’Yala Delfosse Te’Yala Delfosse 6'2" | SF Ewing | 2024 State NJ (2024) offered by seven different Division I schools
What a busy two weeks or so it has been for Ewing junior Te’Yala Delfosse Te’Yala Delfosse 6'2" | SF Ewing | 2024 State NJ , not only continuing her AAU season, but getting more than a handful of Division I offers. Included in that group are Temple, Fordham, Sacred Heart, Saint Joseph’s, Northeastern, Boston and George Washington.
Since mid-February, Delfosse has received nine Division I offers, and has been more than deserving of it, putting together a historic career for the Blue Devils. She is a 1,000 point scorer and has over 550 rebounds and 250 steals. Last season, she averaged a career-high 15.9 PPG in 33 games for Ewing.
Colonia’s Taylor Derkack Taylor Derkack 6'0" | SF Colonia | 2024 State NJ (2024) is offered by Murray State
Colonia has had a dominant 1-2 punch in Derkack and Mattison Chiera Mattison Chiera 5'10" | CG Colonia | 2023 State NJ for the past several seasons, and the junior forward now has another Division I offer to add to her list in Murray State.
To put in perspective how good of a player she’s been, this season, she averaged a double-double with 21.5 PPG and 13.6 RPG in 28 games, career-highs in both stats. She also averaged a career-high 3.8 APG, 2.2 BPG and 1.5 made three-pointers a game for Colonia. It was the second-straight season for her averaging four or more steals a game as she now has 350 in her high school career. She’s a 1,000 point scorer and will surpass 1,000 career rebounds as a senior.
Camden Catholic’s Aaryn Battle Aaryn Battle 5'8" | SF Camden Catholic | 2023 State NJ (2023) de-commits from UMass
Battle had signed her National Letter of Intent to play at UMass next season, but the Camden Catholic guard has since de-committed from the program, announcing that on Twitter on May 5.
Battle had a career year nearly across the board for the Irish, averaging a career-high 16.9 PPG as well as 5.4 RPG and 4.0 APG in 26 games. She hit 29 threes on the year for Camden Catholic and recorded 2.4 steals per game. UMass recently elevated assistant coach Mike Leflar to head coach in April. Battle cited “recent personnel changes” as a reason for her to reopen her recruitment.
Montgomery’s Adriana Santiago Adriana Santiago 5'6" | SG The MacDuffie School | 2024 NJ (2024) visits Ramapo College
The junior guard saw a jump in production last season for Montgomery, and it seems that colleges have taken notice as she took a visit to Ramapo College on May 4, meeting with team coaches and staff.
Santiago averaged 8.3 PPG in 19 games for Montgomery as a junior, knocking down 18 three-pointers on the season. She also recorded 1.9 rebounds a game, but those numbers we expect to rise as a senior, though Montgomery struggled. She is the leading returning scorer on the team, something to keep tabs on.
Life Center’s Kaylan Deveney Kaylan Deveney 6'4" | PF Life Center Academy | 2023 State NJ (2023) commits to Rider
Deveney recently received an offer from Rider, a Division I program in the Metro Atlantic, and not long after, on May 4, she committed to the Broncs.
The senior transferred from Shawnee to play at LCA this season. A taller guard/forward combo, Deveney showed off a good ability to shoot from the perimeter and make baskets in the paint. Her rebounding game improved drastically as a junior for the Renegades once she got significant playing time. The same has transpired at Life Center, and she now will be playing Division I basketball.
