The one thing I love above all else in Welsch’s game is how physical she is under the rim. If you’re going to defend her, you’ll feel it for a few days. I loved how she looks to get under the basket on every possession, and I can imagine defending her can be annoying, which is the biggest compliment I can give slightly undersized posts. She’s also got excellent touch under the rim with both hands.
Jocelyn Tibbets
Tibbets can shoot the lights out, and I think her game looks better in AAU when the game gets up and down, where transition basketball is more prominent. Whenever she gets to take a transition 3-pointer, I fully believe that it’s going in every time, and I’m usually right. She’s a kid who most people probably aren’t aware of because she’s not at a traditional power in high school, and her name doesn’t draw headlines immediately. However, any school that gets her will be a big fan of how well she spaces the floor and her comfort playing a fast-paced brand of basketball.
Watching Helm do the little things to help her team compete is a joy. Helm is one of these hard-nosed, scrappy guards from the North Shore that coaches will fall in love with over the next few years. She competes hard and will race some of her teammates to be the first to dive after loose balls. Her value goes far beyond the little things as well. She can score the ball from the 3-point line and can hot anytime. I can envision a role for her at the next level that would come early and some good schools that’ll go after her.
Mimi Hart
Last season, Mimi Hart broke through as one of the best shooters in Southeast Wisconsin and earned a trip to the state tournament as one of the top 3-point shooters in D2, and her shot looks excellent out of her hands. She’s more confident than a year ago in AAU, and her role is much more prominent due to some changes in her group. Her shot alone will draw interest from multiple schools these next few years.
