We’ve already looked at the stock risers from the western part of the state, so let’s take a look at the ones from the part of the state east of Charlotte.
Olivia Tucker Olivia Tucker 5’7″ | SG Panther Creek | 2024 State NC is a state champion with Panther Creek, and her MVP performance was a large reason why. She is a three level scorer knocking down shots off the pass or off the dribble, and she knows how to create plays for her teammates by drawing defenders towards her as she attacks the paint. On defense, she is feisty never backing down from opponents stripping the ball from them and taking it the other direction.
Emerson Thompson Emerson Thompson 5’9″ | CG Falls Lake Academy | 2024 State NC finished her high school season with 31 wins as a leader doing a little bit of everything in the guard position. She handles the ball well pushing it up the court finding her open teammates with the long court pass. She creates her own space with her between the leg dribbles and is a knockdown shooter from anywhere around the perimeter. She hustles up the court being ready for her own pass on fast breaks and is able to score in transition with ease.
Jazlyn Harris Jazlyn Harris 5’8″ | PG Quality Education Academy | 2024 State NC had a very successful season with QEA and is continuing her dominance on the court with CP3 Flames. She’s a shifty ball handler knowing how to navigate around her defenders, and she attacks the basket easily finishing at the rim. On the other end, she’s a tough defender showing her quickness laterally keeping her opponents in front of her, and she uses her IQ anticipating what her opponents will try to do.
Jianna Holmes Jianna Holmes 5’8″ | PG Winston Salem Christian | 2024 State NC is always on the move offensively finding the open areas of the court moving with the ball to pull up for her jumpers or moving without the ball to create some room for her teammates. She plays with the same composure throughout any game no matter what kind of competition she is going against showing that she can handle anything. I’ve seen teams even try to double team her when she caught the ball in an attempt to slow her down, but she would still maneuver around them with ease.
Highlights
Tamia Darden Tamia Darden 5’9″ | SG South Garner | 2024 State NC is a tough guard being able to handle her own defensively on the block protecting the rim on defense. She uses this toughness on offense being able to battle in the paint for some points as she shifts around with the ball to pull up for jumpers all over the court. She has a nice touch off the glass, and she knows how to penetrate the paint drawing defenders towards her to make the dish on the block. She will definitely make opponents pay the price if she gets her shot up around the perimeter, too.
