Let’s take a look at who has been improving their stock over the past year.
Boston Bates Boston Bates 5’6″ | SG North Meck | 2024 State NC was a dominant presence over the past year for North Meck. On defense, she typically takes on the best player on the opposing side being quick laterally to keep them in front of her, and she doesn’t back down from stripping the ball away from them taking advantage of the steal. Her aggressiveness translates well to the offensive side of the ball as she attacks the basket being able to drive past anyone who tries to stop her. With the Vikings graduating some prominent seniors from their line up, look for her to get the ball more and continue to play strong on both ends of the court.
Tyler Collins Tyler Collins 5’7″ | CG West Cabarrus | 2024 State NC is a state champion with Northside Christian after this season, and her ball handling and strong shooting were certainly a major role in their road to victory. She has excellent moves with the ball knowing how to create space for her shot, and she can do so with ease from deep. Her crossovers and step back moves are definitely fun to watch as her defenders lose their footing. She easily gets to the rim, too, with her speed and ability to protect each possession.
Demya Phifer Demya Phifer 5’7″ | PG West Rowan | 2024 State NC is a high motor guard that moves well downhill getting to the rim with ease. She is constantly moving even without the ball making sure she is attacking the gaps and shifting the defense. As a defender herself, she is feisty stripping the ball from her opponents and pushing these steals up the court with speed. Her quickness lets her explode into passing lanes grabbing steals that way, too.
Julie Janus Julie Janus 5’7″ | SG AC Reynolds | 2024 State NC has been a strong perimeter player knocking down her shot from deep and finding her open teammates all over the court to get a play going. She can certainly drive hard to the hoop attacking both sides of the basket. She runs the floor well being ready for the fast break pass and bucket scoring through contact if needed. She can back down any defender in the paint scoring off some spin moves for two.
Myla Hoover Myla Hoover 5’7″ | CG Huss | 2024 State NC is another player with nice handles who can get by anyone trying to guard her. She knows how to time her moves perfectly to cause her opponents to lose their balance as she blows by them. She will certainly get hot from deep knocking down shots from all around the perimeter. Her court vision is apparent with the way she gets her passes up the court and inside to her teammates to get their own points.
