Julie Janus is a senior leader for A.C. Reynolds. She can score, defend, rebound, or pass. Janus is willing to do whatever it takes for her team to win the game. On Tuesday night, she scored 17 points, collected 6 rebounds, passed for 4 assists, and forced 3 steals in a huge playoff victory. Following her high school career, Janus will play college hoops at Catawba College. 

Julie Janus has the shiftiness of a guard and the toughness of a post player.  You can even see that with the way she can score on a fast break even if she has to change up her speed, back up her defender to the block, turn, and score off the glass.  Her shot is always consistent around the perimeter, and she doesn’t need the open look as she can shoot with hands in her face.  Lucky for us North Carolinians, she recently announced her commitment to Catawba.

Julie Janus continues to show off her ability to create her own space with her dribbles.  This is helpful for her to show off her talent for scoring around the perimeter.  She attacks the gaps and finds the open lane, and she does a nice job drawing defenders toward her to dish the pass to her teammates underneath the basket.  She is sure to play tough defense on the other end of the court stripping the ball from her opponents to take the other direction for some fast break points.

Reynolds | 2024 State NC doesn’t stop moving on offense making the most effective cuts to the hoop pulling defenders with her to kick it out to her teammates or score it herself.  She follows shots going after rebounds on both ends of the court.  She jumped into passing lanes grabbing steals and pushing it up the court for a fast break.

A.C. Reynolds, a 4A team from Asheville was matched up against a 5A team from South Carolina in Dutch Fork early Monday afternoon at Presbyterian College. Janus led what was an imposing offensive effort for the Rockets as they defeated the Silver Foxes. A good deal of what she did was via the 3-point shot as she made three of her attempts by way of downtown. In addition, she establishes herself as a vocal leader for her team and can deliver creative finishes at the rim when she does drive to the basket. Janus also understands when to pass and when to score.

Reynolds | 2024 State NC has been a strong perimeter player knocking down her shot from deep and finding her open teammates all over the court to get a play going.  She can certainly drive hard to the hoop attacking both sides of the basket.  She runs the floor well being ready for the fast break pass and bucket scoring through contact if needed.  She can back down any defender in the paint scoring off some spin moves for two.

Reynolds | 2024 State NC finds the openings and stays ready for the pass to score some points.  She showed off her range shooting the ball from deep, too, scoring in transition as she found the opening.  She had a nice spin move scoring in transition for two points.  Her composure throughout every game she plays is certainly an asset on the court as she stays calm no matter what pressure is building.

Julie Janus has been a leader for AC Reynolds over the past several seasons handling the ball and serving as the floor general for her group.  She can make plays herself attacking the basket using some nice adjustments on the way up or even showing off spin moves on fast breaks.  She can certainly step outside to knock down her shot from deep creating space herself or getting open without the ball to put up the shot.  She’s able to get inside using post moves to convert her points on the block as well.
