Bellarmine University hosted their first high school team camp this year and it turned out to be a great place to watch some of the local teams play. I didn’t get to watch all of the games on Friday, but I got to see a good chunk of them. The teams I got to watch play include Meade County, North Bullitt, Ballard, North Hardin, and Male. Here are some of the players that stood out to me in those games. (Note: I didn’t have rosters for all of the teams, so I was only able to include players from teams I got rosters for and/or knew previously)
Meade County
Peyton Bradley Peyton Bradley 5'9" | CG Meade County | 2025 State KY
As someone who was a shooter back in my playing days, Bradley is always one of my favorite players to watch because she is the definition of a high-level shooter. However, she is much more than that. She’s got all of the skills you would want from a point guard or shooting guard. Solid handles, high IQ, playmaker, makes great decisions, can score inside or out in a variety of ways, quick release shot, deep range, etc. Absolutely love what she brings to the court.
Paige Medley Paige Medley 5'5" | PG Meade County | 2024 State KY
Talk about a solid skillset…some college is going to get a steal in Medley. She has strong ball handling skills, excellent speed and quickness, consistently runs the floor, makes plays, can knock down outside shots, can get to the rim, isn’t afraid of contact, and brings a lot of defensive intensity. The guard play between Medley, Bradley, and Babb should be really fun to watch next season.
North Bullitt
Kylie Downey Kylie Downey 5'7" | PG North Bullitt | 2026 State KY
When I first got there, what I immediately saw was Downey knock down four deep shots in a row. Quick release allowed her to get them off even when defense was keying in on her. Also got into the paint and to the rim throughout the day. Primary ball handler a lot of the time, was handling the pressures that came with that. Moved the ball well and set up her teammates for open shots.
Madelyn Curtsinger
Huge addition for the Eagles. Simply made things run so much more smoothly because she stayed poised and solid even with pressure. Scoring option inside and out, but very unselfish. Consistently made good passes and created for teammates. Rebounded well and handled the ball well. Really a perfect piece to the puzzle for North Bullitt next season.
Addison Soutar Addison Soutar 6'1" | PF North Bullitt | 2025 State KY
Looked like she had tweaked her ankle when I first got there, so wasn’t sure I’d get to see her play, but didn’t skip a beat when she returned in the next game. Dangerous length – was blocking or altering most shots around the rim. Stepped over into help defense. Caught the ball high and could finish high around the basket or step out to knock down jumpers.
Ballard
Kendall Taylor
Long and lanky build, athletic, can elevate over defenders to get shots off, good form on shot. Can knock down jumpers, get to the rim, or score in midrange. Don’t think she’s even realized how good she can truly be yet.
Trinity Armour
Impressive fundamentals in the post. Footwork allowed her to make effective moves around the basket. Constantly crashed boards and was boxing out strong. Was finishing strong and through contact. Poised to have a big senior season for the Bruins.
North Hardin
Isom has a strong skillset from her handles to shooting form to passing and more. Selfishly, wish I could have seen her take over more at times just because I know what she has in her arsenal from watching her in the past, but her unselfishness also makes her team really get involved nearly every trip down the floor. Could see how coachable she is even in a summer game setting. Really excited to see what she brings to the court this season because she’s a really good player who can score at all 3 levels and she’ll have solid pieces around her.
Male
Aubrey Bradshaw
Very active on both ends of the court, crashing the boards hard on every single shot (to the point that it seemed she could potentially get the rebound on every play), was constantly moving without the ball, and was scoring in a variety of ways. Knocked down shots, finished at the rim, and had multiple put back buckets.
LiLi Mangrum
Doesn’t look like a rising 8th grader out there. When she was looking to score, she was finishing in a variety of ways from knocking down shots to getting to the rim. Good length, creative shots over defense, some tough finishes. Really just showed her potential to be a future star in the state and beyond.
