Bria Glossom (SA Finest National 15U)
Glossom gave me a nice first look at her game, sort of. I glanced and saw bits and pieces a while back yet I knew the potential was there and watching her “think” the game was refreshing. She plays within herself and understands how to get hers “in the flow” whether tracking the basket or dropping the jumper, plus she played solid defense
#10 (SA Finest National 15U)
I got a kick out of seeing another “long and athletic” guard that showed me a variety of things like being able to create her shot under pressure and knock it down with a hand in her face. She also showed the jumper in transition and attacked the basket from a variety of angles
Nia McBride-5’4 PG (SA Finest National 15U)
McBride is another “long and athletic” guard and I saw a few minutes of her at the #HeartOfTexas and, what impressed me even then was her using her athleticism on both ends of the court. Her baseline-to-baseline pressure helped create turnovers, yes her hands are quick and she played the passing lane but she also explodes off the dribble to score or dish
#2 (SA Finest National 15U)
Understanding how to size the defender up is a big plus and she used a deceptive first step to get to the basket using either hand. I love her upside as she plays within herself and just gets the job done but I also enjoyed watching her applying smothering defense in the set as well as in a hunnid
Arielle Williams (SA Finest National 15U)
Williams created her shot nicely and what was even nicer is she showed that she could drop it while being defended. She’s athletic and attacks the basket hard
Megan Hawkins (SA Finest National 15U)
Hawkins knocked down shots from various spots, she also mixed it up to score off the dribble but her seeing the floor was nice, and so was her defense
Regina Mendoza (SA Finest National 15U)
Mendoza dropped the long ball consistently and she shot it with confidence which means a number of things that will create problems for defenders
THE BABIES ARE COMING
Ashley Ramirez (SA Finest National 14U)
Ramirez is definitely not a new face off the court and I was just tickled watching her dribbling at 3 or 4 when I dropped #D1Lock yet I’m still laughing at her “poise on the court” and the way she does things “instinctively” and how she “reacts” is why I’m right again. She did a stutter-step in transition and dropped the long ball, that was enough as it dropped the mic but trust me, “can’t miss”
Kinsley McWillaims (SA Finest National 14U)
McWilliams pictured on the cover with Ramirez was captured in a couple of photos I tweeted out from “back in the day” which sounds funny since both are entering 7th grade. I loved her creating her shot and dropping the jumper in the set yet it was equally impressive in transition as she elevated and let t go. Her upside is HUGE upside as it appears I’ll be in my seventies doing this
Andi Hemby (SA Finest National 14U)
The first name is Andi and boy was she dandy as her “crossover” in transition was special yet she’s also heady with exceptional court vision
Zoe Conner (SA Finest National 14U)
Zoe already gets IT and by that I mean she uses her size around the basket. She finishes around the rim, understands positioning, and rebounds on both ends yet watching her “follow her shot” gets her the #THROWBACK hashtag
