One of the final camps that took place as June 2023 calls it a month and gives way to July was the one hosted by Presbyterian College. A Big South school in Clinton, South Carolina, the home courts of the Blue Hose and coach Alaura Sharp welcomed teams from its home state as well as North Carolina and Georgia.
We at Prep Girls Hoops were also on hand for the day’s games. Here is a look at even more 2024s (plus a 2023) that caught our attention.
The rising senior “Starr” for the 4A Stallions is coming off a banner season where her South Pointe team made plenty of noise in 2022-23. She averaged 14.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.3 steals in the 25 occasions where she took to the court in the Stallions colors. What makes Morris difficult to contain is the variety of ways in which she can put the ball through the basket – including her willingness to attack the basket against a group of opposing defenders and in the midrange game. She has no problems shooting 3-pointers and as those stats indicate is a gifted rebounder. Recruit, recruit, recruit.
One of the premier centers in the state of South Carolina, aficionados of the 5A Vikings will certainly be awaiting exactly where she decides to play her collegiate ball. Expect a coach that is looking for an imposing big that can convert on high-percentage baskets to give her a look or two. She combines that ability to garner high percentage shots with rebounding capabilities. Young stands at 5-foot-10 and plays at either the four or the five. A rising senior that is part of the nucleus of Spartanburg’s roster, Young is more than poised to finish her high school career with an exclamation point.
Cheeseboro may have saved her best for last as Monday’s play came to a close at Presbyterian. Her 5A Dutch Fork team was involved in one of the more entertaining matchups of the day’s play as it was locked in a tight contest against fellow 5A combatants J.L. Mann. Throughout the day’s play, Cheeseboro displayed many of her talents that fuse well together with her status as a rising senior. These included the ability to drain 3-pointers and play lockdown defense. That stellar defense can put opposing ball handlers in danger of coughing up the rock and she will draw contact to get to the free throw line.
With Hillary Offing having graduating and now starting her college career at Penn State-Lehigh Valley, it puts more of an emphasis for Jackson to carry the load for the Silver Foxes’ frontcourt. Jackson will make plenty of plays in the frontcourt as she provides a noteworthy presence in terms of her skillset. One can count on Jackson to convert on many high percentage shot opportunities. Jackson is listed at 5-foot-10 and that comes in useful when not only looking to score but looking to grab rebounds. She had her best statistical season in 2022-23 in terms of points, rebounds and blocks per game and one can expect she can build on that in 2023-24 as her senior campaign looms.
*Honorable Mention – Graduated Senior*
El’Riyonna Johnson

It is not often that we see graduated seniors on the camp and travel circuit. It was the case earlier in the travel season with Tysonia Lowe and it is apparently the case with Johnson who showcased exactly why she became a star at 4A Wilson. Johnson led her Tigers to a come-from-behind victory against 5A Dorman in the middle portion of Monday’s play at Presbyterian. She is a classic floor general who can set up her team’s offense in a half court set but will also go from iso mode to attack mode quickly. Her second-half surge powered Wilson to a victory at Templeton over the Cavaliers.
