Cheeseboro will be a Silver Fox turned Wolf after this season as the collegiate ranks with Newberry College await. The talented senior guard continues to display exactly why she was on the radar of the Wolves. She also contributed 20 points in a winning Dutch Fork effort over 4A Irmo to conclude what was a dominant – and headline-gathering – weekend for the 5A Silver Foxes. Cheeseboro will place the ball through the hoop at all three levels and also understands when to score and when to pass. Getting out in transition is another of her game’s strong points along with veteran leadership. If the Dutch Fork team that showed up to She Got Next is an indication of what it will present on a game-by-game basis, the rest of the 5A field may be put on notice.

We shift our attention to the Midlands for this one and the Silver Foxes of 5A Dutch Fork. Her AAU career included a stint with Palmetto 76ers and, during the offseason, announced that she will play her collegiate ball at Newberry College – a school that has landed a plethora of in-state recruits. Cheeseboro is gifted as a ball handler and understands how to organize an offense in a halfcourt set. She keeps defenses honest with her ability to either drain a 3-point shot or attack the rim. Cheeseboro also has no issues drawing contact and finding her way to the free throw line.

Cheeseboro may have saved her best for last as Monday’s play came to a close at Presbyterian. Her 5A Dutch Fork team was involved in one of the more entertaining matchups of the day’s play as it was locked in a tight contest against fellow 5A combatants J.L. Mann. Throughout the day’s play, Cheeseboro displayed many of her talents that fuse well together with her status as a rising senior. These included the ability to drain 3-pointers and play lockdown defense. That stellar defense can put opposing ball handlers in danger of coughing up the rock and she will draw contact to get to the free throw line.

To “cheese” is a slang term to smile. The play of the 5A Silver Foxes star guard has had many who back the silver and green colors a-cheesing ever since she first put on a Dutch Fork uniform. At times, it appears as if there is more than one of her on the floor with how she can turn defense into offense. Cheeseboro can deliver strong finishes at the rim and also adds a 3-point shooting dimension to the Silver Foxes’ offense. One has to game plan for her and the prolific passes she makes as well. Cheeseboro finished with 10 points in Friday night’s matchup with 1A Denmark-Olar.

Outside of Dutch Fork silver and green, one color that Cheeseboro has worn throughout her preps career has been red – specifically the red of Palmetto 76ers Select 2023. She plays up a year in class with the AAU team and competed in 25 games last season for the Silver Foxes. She puts plenty of emphasis on taking care of the ball and limiting turnovers in addition to being able to combine ball handling skills with speed and agility. She is efficient as a 3-point shooter but will also find her way past defenders to finish at the cup. Her defensive footwork can make things difficult for many an opposing ball handler.

In the past, Cheeseboro has ran on the grassroots circuit with Palmetto 76ers Select. She played an integral role in the 5A Silver Foxes winning 18 games for the first time since the 2014-15 season when Dutch Fork was a 4A school. She is an efficient shooter of the 3-point shot and does a lot with her defensive footwork that can make many an opposing ball carrier uncomfortable. Cheeseboro places a great deal of emphasis on limiting turnovers and can move with the ball in her hands with a great deal of speed, enabling her to quickly sail past defenders and either finish at the cup or find an open teammate.

depart for SCISA 4A Hammond. This opens things up for stars like Cheeseboro to become even bigger focal points for the team going forward. Standing at 5-foot-6, she is gifted as a ball handler and can organize an offense in a halfcourt set. She can set herself up near the rim to haul in rebounds and has the ability to score either close to the basket or behind the 3-point arc. All-out hustle is one way that Cheeseboro’s game can be described as containing.
