2024s to Watch to End July

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The final live period of July is quickly approaching, and there's a handful of kids to watch. Today, I'll highlight some small-school prospects who could help teams in a conference like the WIAC. Good small-school kids are available, so let's talk about a few.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Matya Machovec</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Every team needs a kid like Machovec around their program. She does an excellent job setting the table for everyone around her and does a solid job balancing her scoring with her passing. In high school and AAU, she's a vocal leader that her teammates respond to and is more than willing to attempt passes most kids wouldn't. Machovec won't play safe for fear of getting taken out of the game. She wants to make plays happen. She'll bring leadership qualities wherever she goes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='521878' first='Noelle' last='Anthon']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There's a possibility that Anthon becomes an incredibly effective post-player at the next level. She's an athletic 6-2 kid who can finish over taller kids around the basket. Anthon has a ways to go, but when you watch her, but shows flashes of being a gifted post-player. She can change directions, move laterally well for her size, and is willing to play outside of her comfort zone if you ask her. I'm not sure what her ceiling is, but if the right staff gets her, she could be a kid who helps a program win plenty of games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='329560' first='Madison' last='Ehlenbach']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Columbus guard is a solid all-around scorer. She can finish around the basket with either hand and handle the ball if needed. Ehlenbach hasn't played a primary role on some solid Columbus teams, but the past two summers, she's been an intriguing kid with [program_tooltip program_id='715320' first='Foundation' last='Athletics']. Looking ahead to this upcoming high school season, Ehlenbach could turn heads in the Capital Conference if things go her way. If she can be an effective scorer and help her team win games after many seniors graduated this past spring, Ehlenbach could be a kid who pops up on some staff's radars this next year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='337024' first='Olivia' last='Conway']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Conway's shooting alone could help a fair share of programs out now. However, her ability to handle the ball is valuable. She's seen some of the best defenses in the state these past few years and has been able to break pressure and involve herself in effective offenses. I've been a fan of hers for the last few years, and I'm sure if she wants to play at the next level, a coaching staff could use her.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
