PARKERSBURG - Shooters and scorers are not the same thing in the game of basketball.

They aren't even close.

Any player can have great moves, still get to the basket and score points. But, those moves don't ensure shots stay on target the further out from the basket a player is pushed. These girls have no problems with their shots - no matter where they are on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='379496' first='Macie' last='Mallory'], George Washington, SG, 5-8, Sr. - If you are a coach in need of a great shooter, look no further than this GW Patriot. Mallory stretches the floor and a defense simply by her mere presence. She's always a threat to get off a shot with limited daylight. Blessed with a quick shot and even quicker feet, she squares up quickly and you always have the feeling her shot is going in. Once she's hit one, she doesn't need much encouragement to hit another and another and another. Before you know it, she's scored six treys in a game and the opposition is scrambling on defense, especially man-to-man, because they are now playing five-on-four thanks to Mallory demanding constant attention.

[player_tooltip player_id='375427' first='Sophie' last='Nichols'], Ripley, 5-11, SF, Sr. - Sophie (at right) is an excellent shooter, especially from the 3-point line. She doesn't need any daylight to fire off a shot. Her quick elevation and high release make it even more unlikely you are going to stop her. Inside the arc, she's just as much of a threat. She can rise up from anywhere for a solid shot attempt. If coaches need a solid shooting option, they should definitely take a look at Nichols.

[player_tooltip player_id='379497' first='Sophi' last='Aldridge'], Cabell Midland, 5-6, CG, Sr. - There's never a moment when Aldridge isn't ready to shot the basketball. She always receives the ball with her shooting hand underneath. Her jump stop sets her feet quickly. She focuses in on the rim quickly, and then gets her shot up quickly. She may be small, but she works herself into smart shots and makes sure she gets the best shot for herself. She's a great 3-point shooter and one who can't be ignored when she's on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='496351' first='Macy' last='Helmick'], Tucker County, 5-7, SG, Sr. - Helmick doesn't receive enough attention for her strong shot. Not nearly enough attention. Blessed with a nice release and even flow, she's one of the better kept secrets in the state. For example, last year, she led Tucker County in 3-point percentage at 47% a game while taking the least amount of 3s. Not too bad, right. Better, yet. Her easily repeatable shot means she's not going to suffer any where and tear on her body as her career continues into the college ranks.

[player_tooltip player_id='385772' first='Alaira' last='Evans'], Chapmanville, W, 5-9, Sr. - When it comes to the mechanics of shooting, consistency is key. Thankfully for [player_tooltip player_id='385772' first='Alaira' last='Evans'], she's a consistent shooter. She's much like Aldridge in the fact that she always catches the ball in the shooting position. Once ready, she unleashes the ball the exact same way every single time. There's no wasted motion with her shot, but there is room for her to make her shot easier by adding some arm strength. However, her mechanics are already solid for a high school shooter.

PARKERSBURG - Shooters and scorers are not the same thing in the game of basketball.
