The Missouri Phenom 16U squad advanced to the championship game of the Nike EYBL in a nationally televised contest against Philly Rise in Chicago. The Phenom led for much of the game before the Philly Rise made a late run to take a 60-53 victory.
Prep Girls Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the Phenom standouts from the championship game that we watched.
Elli Porter Elli Porter 5'8" | CG Kirksville | 2025 State MO (Rock Bridge): The 5’8 2025 guard was on fire in the championship game with a team high 18 points, including a blistering first half that staked Phenom to its early lead. She knocked down triples on the first three possessions of the game. She also attacked close outs well to get into the lane and draw fouls.
Jayda Porter Jayda Porter 6'4" | C Rock Bridge | 2026 State MO (Rock Bridge): The 6’4 2026 forward earned First Team All-EYBL 16U honors. She scored 10 points in the championship game. She was effective with both hands inside and she also stepped out to hit a 17 footer. She also had a nice step back turnaround jumper off one leg in the post.
Grace McCallop (Bishop Miege, KS): The 5’10 2025 point guard also earned All -EYBL First Team honors. Her all-around floor game was excellent. Her length and high energy made her very disruptive on the defensive end with deflections. Her passing was also on point as she dropped pinpoint dimes to open shooters. She made the simple pass which was most effective.
Asia Lee (Olathe North, KS): The 5’9 2026 guard was instant offense off the bench with 10 points in the first half. She displayed her smooth perimeter shooting stroke with a pair of 3-pointers. She also made a great hesi move along the baseline that froze of a defender to get a trip to the free throw line.
Jayla Griffith Jayla Griffith 5'10" | PG Hickman | 2025 State MO (Hickman): The 5’10 guard knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, including one in transition off a turnover. She was very effective on the full court press with her ability to get deflections. Her ball handling and passing was also steady.
Sy’Rae Stemmons Sy’Rae Stemmons 5'11" | SF Hickman | 2025 State MO (Hickman): The 5’10 2025 wing had a very impressive sequence in the second half when she scored on a short jumper off a very good cut through the middle. On the ensuing possession she had a deflection which caused a turnover that led to another bucket. It showcased her athleticism and high motor at both ends of the court.
BreAunna Ward BreAunna Ward 5'10" | SF John Burroughs | 2025 State MO (John Burroughs): The athletic 5’10 2025 guard brought plenty of energy and activity off the bench at both ends of the court. She was a good secondary ball handler who delivered a few nifty assists for buckets. She also made a few nice hustle plays for offensive rebounds.
