Blair Jackson Blair Jackson 5’9″ | SG Fort Chiswell | 2025 State VA was extremely impressive last weekend at TFN’s Run for Roses in Louisville. I’ve been privy to Blair’s ability to shoot the ball, but I think her game has expanded a lot this summer. She was always solid at getting to the rim, but she’s taken that part of her game to the next level. Blair is a good athlete and was one of the better offensive players last weekend. In 4 games, Blair averaged 18 PPG and 7 rebounds. She was efficient all over the court and was outstanding.
Claire Kang
Claire Kang
I’ve been aware of Claire Kang since the beginning of her freshman season, and over the past six months, her game and popularity have grown. I put Claire on my underrated hoopers list back in January for good reason. Her passing and overall feel for the game is fantastic, and her shot is also good. She has continued to play better in July and will keep rising heading into her Sophomore season.
Payton Dunbar Payton Dunbar 6’0″ | CG Jefferson Christian Academy | 2025 State VA is one of my favorite players to watch. She does a lot of things well and fills up the stat sheet. Her energy and competitive fire are fantastic. Even when Payton isn’t scoring a lot of her points, and her shot isn’t falling, she still finds ways to impact games. Payton is a combo guard, but her height allows her to play multiple positions. Her rebounding and defense are bright spots, and she has been impressive.
Highlights
Alyssa Ervin Alyssa Ervin 5’10” | SG Carroll County HS | 2024 State VA gets better and better whenever I see her play. She had a game in TFN’s Run 4 Roses where she scored 40 points in a competitive game against the Long Island Renegades. I wanted to make this list just of players that are risers or have helped their stock in July. Alyssa is one of the highest-ranked players in Virginia, and I still felt she needed to be here. Alyssa’s athleticism will allow her to take over games by forcing turnovers and getting to the rim. She can shoot and is tremendous in the paint. Alyssa wasn’t in the top 10 last year, and she has risen to 8 since then. Don’t be surprised if she is ranked higher at the start of her senior season.

Tatum has been fantastic in July. She has showcased her shooting for a very impressive PV Thunder team. Tatum is a high-level shooter, and she showed that. She is elite as a spot-up shooter and gets shots off quickly. Tatum had some monster performances; her biggest one was in a game she knocked down 8 threes and finished with 26 points. Her defense is excellent, and she is always active on that end. PVT Thunder is full of NOVA public school gems, and they are a team I enjoy watching.
