As I said, I have just about a hundred players to cover for this series as I try to get myself reacquainted with Oklahoma High School Girls’ Basketball and after all of the DM’s and emails yesterday, I have even more. I’m looking forward to watching a lot of video while I sit inside and enjoy the A/C for the next few weeks. So, with no further ado, here’s part two!
Jordyn Payne
Jordyn Payne
Man, I cannot wait to see Jordyn Payne in person. She is a star in several different sports. **Quick aside here, athletes, play as many sports as possible. Please. Don’t stop and “concentrate” on one. When you “concentrate” on one, you concentrate which muscles, tendons, and ligaments you use. That’s when they tend to do things like get overused and/or torn.** Just like her friend, the great Stailee Heard who now plays for Oklahoma State, Payne runs track and plays volleyball. Also like Heard, she is explosively athletic and can jump out of the gym. She is a very good shooter and looks to have some pretty good handles. Like I said, I can’t wait to see her in person, but Jordyn definitely looks to be a big time prospect in the class of 2028!
Often called upon to play inside against the opposing team’s bigs, Alysa more than holds her own. She battles hard defensively and racks up the blocks with her long arms and tremendous athleticism. On the offensive end, she is great at finding soft spots in the zone out near the free throw line and is money with her midrange jumper. Alysa also does a great job of sensing the double team and hitting the open teammate. She has a plethora of skills and really looks to be a big time prospect. Her video is definitely very fun to watch!
Highlights
Janaiya Fisher
Janaiya Fisher
Wow. Talk about handles. Janaiya is the definition of a slasher. She throws her defender off balance with some ridiculous handles and gets to the rim whether the defense likes it or not. She is a scoring machine who was 5A Honorable Mention while averaging 13.9ppg last season. She can finish with either hand and stroke the three. Perhaps the best thing I saw in her videos was her heart and hustle. Every video, she is going all out. Janaiya looks like she wants nothing more than to win and win at all costs. She is going to be a very good college player and you coaches might wanna hurry up and get down to Lawton to get a look for yourselves. I’ll definitely be there sometime this season!
Mia Curtis
Mia Curtis
Mia is a small school star who is built to handle any level of competition. She is pretty tall and very strong. She has some great moves down low to throw any defender, even one who may be somewhat taller than her, off balance. She is a heady player who communicates very well on defense. When she goes to work in the post, it can be a scary proposition for anyone who tries to guard her. Mia’s footwork is on a whole other level and she is still very young. The future is bright for Mia Curtis!
Three point lines mean nothing to Kiana. She’ll shoot it from just beyond halfcourt if the mood strikes. She can basically hit from anywhere. This kid is a flat-out shooter. But, that doesn’t mean she is just limited to shooting. No, not at all. Watch her video and you’ll see her tossing some lovely one-handed passes to teammates who sometimes seem just as surprised as the defenders that she was able to pull off what she just did. Add in the fact that she is an incredible student and has already begun work at Oklahoma State as a rising senior and you have a prospect that college coaches should probably be reaching out to heading into 2024!
